 Re: Frog Giggers
1.) Is there any easy way to locate them? Where do you start looking on a big lake or swamp?
2.) How long should my gig handle be and what is a good material to make it out of?
Thanks

 Re: Frog Giggers
Look everywhere and forget the gig. Banks lines are a good place to start but every topwater hits them first so the pickings can be slim. Get back where most folks cant get to. Here they sit on top of floating grass and veggies alot. Gigs just push them down under so hand grabbing is best. If they are up behind brush I carry a net to reach those. If you have to use a gig get the florida style that has straightened out fish hooks. I like to keep mine alive till I clean them. http://www.sbtoutdoors.com/mobley%27s-f ... -light.htm

 Re: Frog Giggers
They can keep for a couple days as long as you keep them in shade or cool. But your exactly right and I am usually wore out and clean them the next afternoon.

 Re: Frog Giggers
step#1- fill cooler with beer and ice. step#2- drink beer and GIG frogs till beer is gone. step#3- pull drain on cooler and place frog sack on the left over ice. step#4- go home and pass out. step#5- wake up a little hung over get more beer and stuck the hide off the frogs.
i florida we gig off the air boat. the stright type gigs on a fiberglass gig pole is the way to go. we would cut the pole down to match the boat rigging heith. the poles come about 11 foot long. you will cut a little off the gig end to fit the gig. the handle end needs to be cut a little to clean up the end. we would always seal the ends to make them air tight and float. put some reflective tape on them so you can find them if you drop it of have to let it go. as for the frogs if you keep them cool they will live for a very long time no matter how tore up the were. if you stone them the were dead before they got in the boat. even after pulling the hide and legs off they would cralw around. i like getting out in the mats away from the shore. its easier to move around and the deeper water keeps the wake from scareing the frogs.
