Wanting to buy a lower end O/U just cause I want one, and dont want to spend a bunch of money on a nice one thats probably gonna get scratched, dented, so on and so on.

Im considering the Spartan SP310, and the Stoeger Condor. Anyone have experience with either one, or have suggestions on other ones to check out in the $500 or lower price range.

I highly suggest you find a good used one of a better brand. I have seen some really good deals on o/u in the used gun rack. I would look at a Beretta,Browning or ? Most used shotguns have been shot a few times and then moved for something else.

I highly recommend the Yildiz O/U. I bought one in 20 guage and its build really well. Beautiful wood, nicer laser engraved etching. Shoots very well and highly reviewed. Cost is about 400 bucks.

cousin bought a german brand of o/u while i was in college. i don't remember the name of it at all but he only paid like $300. i was a good little gun only a 20ga. but it shot nice and the recoil wasn't bad at all. i'll try to get in touch with him to find out the name of it.

I won a TriStar 12 ga. O/U at a DU banquet. Really was supprised by it not a bad gun at all. But I still would rather the Browning Citori.

CZ's got some really nice O/U for under a thousand and you'd be really happy with it, my cuz has a few lower end O/U's mossberge and stoger and there is a real diffrence. spend the extra 200-300 and get a Cz or a used browning or beretta.

I dont mind spend $1000, $1500 on a shotgun. I have a problem spending that much for a nice gun thats gonna occasionally ride on the floor of the boat, have the dog stepping on it, getting wet, possible dunked in the water, get covered in mud, scratched, dented etc. I just want a cheap ($500 range) O/U for the dove field, and so Im not worried about it getting messed up. I have a friend with a Stoeger that has been through hell, and functions every time. I have another friend with a Beretta silver pigeon, and its a GREAT gun, but I would cry when my dog accidentally knocked it over and the barrel gets scratched from sliding down the side of the boat, then gets scratched when I over react and the dog gets that worried look and runs to the front of the boat, scratching the stock on the way.

I was thinking about the Yildiz, but was told to stay away because of the aluminum frame. I also heard the Tri Star starts falling apart after a year or so, but I personally have no experience with either.

I used a Stoeger Condor all this past season, and was pleased with it. Never had a misfire or freeze up and we hunted several below zero days. The only problem I had was for two days in a row it rained non-stop, and the stock swelled while the gun was in the case on the ride home the second day, and I couldn't break it open because the wood was in the way of the lever, but with a gun that cheap, I just whittled it down a little, and no problems since. Also didn't feel bad about shooting it with some spray paint to keep it from rusting and the wood from swelling at all.
