Post Help Pickin Out a New Scatter GUN
Well I'm bout to throw down on a new shotgun and can't decide on which one is gonna do the trick. I mainly shoot 99.9% 3" shells, so the 3 1/2 aint that big of a deal. I'm thinkin about the new benelli vinci because of the ease of breakdown, but havn't heard any reviews about it yet. Also considering SBE 2, SX3, Browning. What do yall think?

I've got an SBE II, and as i have stated before its great in good weather and i love how light it is (great gun if your gonna be walkin alot) BUT, on hunts up north (montana & dakota's) it had some issues. If you get one plan on cleaning the spring located in the stock alot, especially if you hunt in waist deep water.

I have a SBE II and what everyone is saying is true I have a problem with the gun jamming if it's not clean and that’s if I am hunting in cold weather or not. As long as I keep it clean I love how it shoots. I did buy the SX3 for my dad for his 60th birthday and have to say that is a sweet shooting gun. He only shot it for 1/2 a season and had no problem but the real test is a whole season.

Well thanks for the input so far fellas. I have been eyeing that SBE 2 for awhile now, but was thinking benelli would be coming out with a new gun. Now that they did it makes me wanna test that dude out. My gun now is a beretta silver mallard, and that takes a bath everytime I get done huntin so it will shoot the next hunt. Does the SBE2 have to have a cleaning about every hunt ? And I understand it depends on how filthy you get the thing. Also, does the camo benelli's rust ?

My 2 cents --- the gun you can hit birds with --- reliably ! ! !

Like Phil Robertson says "I need three things from a gun" --- Boom Boom Boom

Browning BPS 3" x 30" barrel is it for me --- doubles as a spare paddle in a pinch --- few squirts of RemOil and back to business again....

Same with the Mossberg 500 pump --- for $ 160 on sale --- hard to beat...
And none of the camo has come off my 20 year old cheap Mossberg --- nor has it rusted excessively internally.... Although it has been in the bottom of many a leaky boat in the salt marsh....

Watch the first three videos --- closely --- when the Browning Gold goes empty he reaches for the old A5 --- Boom Boom Boom , Boom Boom Boom

That is/was legal in some places...

Yep - they CUT that sucka a flip....

But seriously --- a gun has to "fit" n "work" for YOU --- when you find that "fit" you will know....

I have swapped irons in the blinds and tried a bunch of guns --- killed with most or all of them --- but if you track your percentage kills and find something that works stick to it....

The reason "I" like a pump --- is the second shot kill percentages are greater --- for ME --- than with any automatic --- there is just something about workin the pump and reacquiring target that I can't get out of the autoloaders.... But that is --- for ME.... Also much as I like the design of an 870 --- can't hit with it like the BPS or Mossberg....

I average 75 percent kill - first shot and also second shot with the pump.

Auto loader same 75 percent kill - first shot but only about 25 percent second.

Try not to shoot three times unless it is a cripple kill. Keepin up with 2 downed birds is better than downing three and not findin em....

Lead --- oh yeah --- not nearly as many lost cripples in the lead days, you knocked em down and they stayed down....

But --- times change and with the 30" BPS --- I can reach 50 yarders about the same as we used to "in the day" with lead --- but the lead is twice as much, or more.... An up close it is way less....

I lead a passing mallard 10 to 20 feet with steel at distance --- and crush 'em....

Sprig --- sorry fer the hijack Swamplord got me started --- carry on....

My SBE worked flawlessly for me the whole time I had it. I loved my SX3 after I quit blowing barrels up

I seriously don't know where this myth about needing to keep a Benelli clean for it to fire comes from. I have an SBE I and an SBE II, I use the II most of the time now and I clean it once at the end of the season. I hunt in below freezing weather half the time and don't have any of these problems. My guess is to much cleaning, useing to much oil is where these problems start.

As far as what gun YOU should get, whatever fits you well.

I've had the browning gold the sbe 2 and the xtrema 2. I use to work at a gun range were we sold all three guns. But anyways the xtrema 2 was the best. didn't really like the browning that much because it wouldn't cycle lighter loads very well, for things like dove hunting, I use to see lots of people sending there guns back to browning for this reason. sbe2 is a very good gun I just personally didn't like the way it was set up, and I know they always gloat about how simple they are being inertia driven but to me gas driven guns are just as simple and last longer. I use the beretta 391 gold sporting for my competition shooting and for me there isn't a better gun. I have friends who shoot competition professionaly and they can put 100,000 rounds through a beretta before they haft to replace any worn parts. The beretta's are built to last.

Im really surprised that Crews is the first person to claim the Beretta 390. I own the 390 and also a Benelli M2, for just that reason that I rarely shoot 3.5 inch shells and can use the gun to dove hunt with and not worry about it jamming up.

As smooth as the Benelli feels, I see myself reaching for the 390 just because I feel comfortable with it. You can buy a good set of chokes for not a lot and guarantee yourself a nice pattern. I would at least do yourself the favor of trying out the 390 before you spend more than you need to.

And Xtrema2 is right about the 391 being great, too. It's just got a little bigger price tag.

It's very mechanically similar to the 390, just with the aesthetic appeal and a longer forcing cone.

i got a sbeII right before the season, used it the entire season and commin from a mossberg 935 i love how the gun shoots and how little it kicks. a friend has an 870 which kicks just bout as light as my eagle. i also used a friends xtrema II that was with me and that also is a very very nice gun. i think if u are deciding between a sx3, eagle, or extrema its pretty much take ur pick, chevy ford or dodge? they will all get it done

i own a sx3 and a xtrema and i got the xtrema for the g/f and the sx3 for me but it has changed now, i like how the xtrema feels on my shoulder and the smaller frame of the sx3 fits her better, so that been keeping her happy for about 3 months now, lol.

on a side note, the sx3 is a very nice gun just as the xtrema is as well. and well, i dont like how a sbeII feels to me, i dont like the foregrip.
