Post Rice Breast?
Seen pictures before but never seen it up close.

Picture is kind of dark but this is from a shoveler we shot yesterday afternoon. (don't usually hunt in afternoons but it was the end of our first split so decided to try it)

Shit looked like maggots when picking it apart. I usually pass on shovelers but if we shoot one i don't mind cleaning and eating them but now definitely weary about it.

It's some type of parasite. Cooking it will kill it. I have eaten ducks like that before.

Not a good idea to eat. I've seen it in blue wing teal around here.

We killed a pile of mallards w/ rice-breast when we hunted in Stuttgart. I would clean them if not too bad but one that was loaded with the parasites had to go.

I would possibly consider it if it were mallards or any other good eating duck but it was a shoveler so I didn't feel too bad.

I know the law and I didn't shoot. Took two guys that couldn't make it with us yesterday morning. Didn't take my gun but took my dog because without him wouldn't be able to retrieve birds because of the mud.

I've found them in almost all ducks except divers. If you pluck them you wouldn't know they were even there. The most common birds I've seen them in were spoons and mottled ducks.

I've also never seen them in poule d'eau!

I seem to find them in mallards the most. They hang out on the shit ponds too.
