I am still hunting with my old Winchester 1300 Ranger 12 gauge and I am looking to get a new choke for it. My question is which would work better in my gun, the Kicks Hi Flyer or the Carlsons Extended Waterfowl choke? I don't really know if the ported would perform better than the non ported and I am just looking for some helpful advice before that I know what to expect from my up coming purchase. |

I have shot Kicks the last four seasons. I have not taken them out or even thought about changing them. Very consistent and performing choke. |

To be honest I am leaning towards the Kicks but my only hang up is buying a $70 choke for a gun that may only be worth $150. Thats the reason I am considering the Carlsons. |

Had a patternmast err in my old mossberg...great choke. Ive got a carlson black cloud and a kicks hi flyer for my a400...... I use the kicks unless someone supplies the black clouds..... the kicks kill. Way less cripples than the stock chokes. sent from the former Republic of Texas. |

I'm just asking at 40 yds I will fill a 40 " circle with pellets that u can't even put a finger tip in between with a Carlson choke to me that's pretty impressive Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

2 3/4 will hold a tighter pattern then 3 1/2 typically Patternmaster if u shoot 3" then u need long range if u shoot 3 1/2" then u need extended range tube that way will pattern correctly |

I can't buy black clouds if all the shot was the same I would but for the price and all u get is ab 20 pellets with the spear around them just not worth it |

I think what you are looking for is experience with the chokes - mated to your gun.... I have a 1300 that I carry on those really nasty, fowl weather days. Several years ago I opted for the Carlson's due to the low value of the gun - and I have no complaints with the choke, seems to pattern well with 2 3/4 or 3" - even using the cheap shells. On the other hand, my 870's sport the Kick's... Midwayusa runs the Carlson chokes for $35 and Kicks for $50.... |

Ive tried my factory chokes, Kicks, and Carlsons in my SBE II. The Carlson's have been superb. I have 4 now that i use. Called them before I ordered them, had a few questions, they put me on with the main man and he suggested a couple things for me to try. Very friendly and excellent CS. Zero complaints. |

Kicks in my 870 for a few years. It made a big difference over factory chokes. Im shooting an A400 now and did well with factory chokes. I will however buy a kicks for the upcoming season. |
