The hunt: Fired 1 shot. Killed 2 birds. Skeet has served me well =) I bagged 1 woodie drake 1 GWT - I didnt pop it to see if it has a weiner or not - I guessed hen. I was surrounded by idiots who would NOT stop calling. I tricked a few geese into dropping to 65yds and then the skybusting from my left side begins. To my left - 3 guys and a dog - took 12 different groups of ducks spinning into my blind from me by shooting at them 50+yds away. They got 3 birds all morning and shot at least a box and a half each. To my right about 400m away - guy and his uncle - anything inside 75yds Was shot at. First and only shot on the opener for 2013 - feeling good =) Was shot between 30-35 yds. Moving left to right at a good pace. A400 12g with a Kicks HF MOD 3" 1-1/4oz Challenger Butt - Beak - 2ft lead - Boom. The season has begun. |

Bird report: I counted: 22 Wigeon 13 pintail 200+ mallards 100+ teal 4 black duck 12 wood ducks I had an 800m viewing area. They got busted early and headed for the fields in a state of chaos Less than half the birds I saw last season but there was a kot of shooting going on today. I mainly just hunt out with my wife on the shoreline aleating ham sandwiches and doritos. She and I had a really fun time. |

Day 2: 3man hunt Killed 12 recovered 10 2 lung shots on Pintail landed in 12ft reeds in a muddy bay. Unrecoverable. I hit a mallard to end the day at 20ft with a kicks HF MOD I didnt even have a chance to shoulder it. I held it in front of me barrel up pointed at where I thought it was going to be and all I saw after the gunshot was a batch of feathers. It looked like someone had ripped open a feather pillow and let it trickle back onto the water. Found him though =) 3 pintail 4 teal 2 mallards 1 Spoonbill Just in the breast meat I had 18 shot holes. It happens....but I was able to salvage a lot of the meat. Birds are shell shocked. Only saw 50-60 birds today. Asst of pintail, mallards, teal, and woodies. No wigeon, or black ducks seen at all today. |

3 boats on the entire lake today. yesterday we counted over 50. only heard 20 other shots all morning. it was a really nice day too =) Sunny and clear with a 13mph wind out of the South. Thanks for the warm weather fellas |
