I'm pretty much done with Dam B after yesterday's trip. Saw one damn bird all day and couldn't really ID it since it was so far away and moving so fast, plus the haze. Anyway. I've heard from friends that the bigger lakes are holding birds right now and getting fresh flights with the good front we had push thru. Il be scouting Black Forest and Caney Creek areas later on today to see what I can see. I've got a camp at Black Forest so I'll be ready to roll in the morning. Hopefully driving a little farther will put me on some good birds... Cause where I have been hunting has been some disappointing bullshit.

Anybody else hunt Rayburn on a regular basis??

I didn't ride up there after hunting yesterday but heard a total of 5 shots from up that direction all morning... If they were hiding out up there, they weren't moving much. I've hunted Rayburn off and on for the past several years, it's just an easier trip to run the 45 or so miles to Dam B. The camp is about an hour and a half drive, not my idea of practical to do twice a weekend. We mainly spend a few weekends a summer up there fishing and swimming. Everywhere I've hunted has been on the west side of the lake. I hear Veech and Mill Creek are doing pretty good this year bird-wise. May have to make that ride this season and stay with a friend that has a house in mill creek. I won't be crossing the lake with my Longtail hahaha

Scouted and found about a dozen just south of Caney Creek and that was it but I figured it was better than nothing. Set up this morning and saw 5 geese... Not the first duck, geese were way out of range. This has been 3 weekends in a row, on 3 different bodies of water, and I have yet to even see a bird in the air.... I'm fucking done with ducks until after the split. I'm over it. Y'all can have those bastards if you can find them...

Someone hunted by mill creek this weekend and didn't get anything. I want to go up there while the south zone is closed and hunt there during the week. I'm gonna scout in my bass boat. If you can hunt during the week, lemme know.

We scouted in my brothers bass boat. Lemme tell ya, jumping 6ft rollers at 45-50mph with a steady 20mph NE wind doesn't make for a fun ride, especially when it's 38deg. Mill Creek area will probably be my next trip up there. I do get to hunt during the week on occasion. If I do I'll shoot you a message for sure. I'm pretty fed up right now in general, gonna take a week or so off.

We may have just been too far south on the lake then...

I hunted Rayburn this weekend, shot a few but birds are still scarce up there. Keep an out for deer, I had one walk up on me Saturday evening.
