I don't have any old collectors items, but I'd like to see what guys have. Here's my small collection (all acrylics except the far right--coco barrel with acrylic insert):

One is a Duck Commander original with the Luna sticker, a hand turned call by a friend and my first duck call that was given to me by my grandpa.

Got this in today. I put a 1.360 reed in and I like it better than any call ive ever used. Im buying another one to run a different reed and ill be done. No need to run anything else for me.

Med, that a hybrid or a T1?

Author:  med [ Mon Apr 07, 2014 8:48 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: Call Collection Pics

T1. I sold my hybrid. I just couldn't decide if I liked the open bore of the hybrid. It was really hard for me to get my air right. I decided to give the small bore a shot and really glad I did. I may go back and try a hybrid at some point. Coming from a dbl reed to a lares has been a challenge to say the least. The practice has been worth it and I can see the light at the and of the tunnel… however im sure my neighbors think im insane and my wife is sure of it now

Post subject:  Re: Call Collection Pics

You should give one a try. Make sure and get a reed pack though as there's a different call in every reed. Having a lares is almost like having a money order… you can cash it in pretty much whenever you want. When I sold my hybrid I had 6 guys msg me within a 5 minute period… lol. So if ya don't like it you can always move it.

I've wanted one for a while, I know they are nice. I'm happy with the calls I got so I've held off.

Ill bring this one and the reeds when I come back and you can give it a try. The inserts are identical, just one is wide open and one small.

What's the limit on calls?

Author:  eljefe [ Wed Apr 09, 2014 6:02 am ]
Post subject:  Re: Call Collection Pics

I use the dc as my loud call the ds has more back pressure and can get quiet and subtle to finish... wood red and blue is tuned flat for mottleds.... sure shot Pintail whistle is the only way to go and I got that high roller to call teal... it's hands free.. lol dog whistle and blue wing call..... I keep a sure shot special mallard in the boat.... seems if birds font respond to these calls , the sure Shot always works them..... just takes a lot of air to blow....

you drink the kool aid, id rather drink the whiskey and raise hell!!!!

Post subject:  Re: Call Collection Pics

Is there a limit on calls.... lol 5 years ago you would have seen just 3 calls on that lanyard..... sure shot mallard Pintail and haydel blue wing........I've gotten to the point that getting the birds to work and respond is the most rewarding part of hunting......

you drink the kool aid, id rather drink the whiskey and raise hell!!!!

Why do y'all carry so many calls on y'all's lanyard? I have 2 on mine just because it holds 2. And I only use one.

The Mondos are the same internally. They just change the year on the band to show when it was made.

All my Mondos have been modded tho. 3 different style HVs and a Decker.

As far as carrying so many, I only have 3 on my lanyard. One mallard hen(whichever one I feel like), and the Mongoose and a 6-1 whistle stay on all season. Until I head west, then I'll swap the Mongoose for my speck.

newest call to the small fleet of 3...its for SALE tho $50 takes it never been blown and its made of Badaux wood.

Over.

Post subject:  Re: Call Collection Pics

On the coast we get all the variety of birds and a lot of hunters.... If you only blow a mallard call and you sound the same as the next mallard call they will bust you. Toward the end of the season my primary call is a Pintail whistle..... no matter what species of bird I'm working...it just depends on how the Ducks react....

I don't know of they ever totally quit making calls, but cowboy was getting up there, I think,he's around 85 yrs old now. Guy named Charlie Holder bought the company from him a year or so ago and is really trying to give the company some new life. I don't really know Charlie but worked with his wife. Good people. I think you can buy them at quite a few places now, I ran across them at Mack's in Stuttgart last year.
