Is it too much? The U.S. House of Representatives Natural Resources Committee yesterday passed the Federal Duck Stamp Act of 2014, which would raise the price of a federal duck stamp to $25 and dedicate the increase to conservation easements with private landowners. The measure, sponsored by Rep. John Fleming (R-La.), now heads to the House floor for further consideration. In a press release, Ducks Unlimited supported the vote, noting it’s been 23 years since the last price increase. “The price of the duck stamp was last adjusted 23 years ago.” DU CEO Dale Hall said. “Since then, the price of land has tripled and conservation buying power has diminished greatly. Once again, sportsmen and women are willing to lead in funding conservation that benefits all of our citizens.” Since it was enacted in 1934, the federal duck stamp program has protected nearly 6 million acres of habitat with more than $900 million in expenditures, the release states. The price of the duck stamp has been raised only seven times, according to the release. The last price increase raised the price of the stamp to its current rate of $15 — the single longest period without a price increase in the program’s history. |

DO you guys like the idea of it going to private land owners? You know, those that lease it out to rich Dr & lawyers? Why should that money go into places that 99% of the hunters have no way to hunt? |

Majority of it goes to landowners in the prairie pot hole region where the ducks nest. Those birds then fly south for us to hunt. I know some goes to places like what you're saying, but let's be clear, not all of it. You show me a government program that isn't at least a little corrupt, I'll start looking into how you must be on the take... |

I would be curious to see how much of the money received since 1934 can be accounted for? Would love to see the percentage that is actually used for the intended reason. |

Do they also charg you sales tax on top of the price of the stamp? We have been paying 20$ + tax for years. |

I wish they would raise it to 250 bucks. id pay it and smile...maybe some of the clowns out there would stay home and find other hobbies. I just wish the extra money generated would go to president obama to spend however and wherever he see fit. |

I'm OK with it. I always buy an extra stamp also but I do it because a guest can buy a license online but not a Federal stamp. Keep it in my hunting bag. |
