Post Re: My new Mikuni Carb for GTR23 install and review
It does not seem to be difficult to install. But what I understand will be tricky is dialing in the idle mixture and making sure its not running lean, as BoarDr explained. I'll need to run it 15 minutes then make a wide open run, let off the throttle abruptly a couple time then read the plugs. Should I install new plugs first? My googelized research indicates need to run engine a while with new plugs before they will render reliable reading of deposits.

Man, I'm really impressed with the quality of manufacturing of this thing.
But I did notice casting bumps is the elbow intake that should probably be ground. One is fairly high above the surface.

When I want something I usually run it by my wife and usually get whatever it is that I want. I've got balls and I make the money. She pays the bills though and she knows more about the books than I. Foolish maybe but its worked for the past 16yrs.

i could go from an outboard to a GTR and the wife wouldnt ever realize. one this dguidry is that if you use the new throttle lever that came with the carb it dont fit the GTR handle. its to small and will take so grinding the inside of it alot to fit the GTR handle. only problem i ran into when i installed it. your come with a rev limiter too?

I'm still trying to sneak my boat into my workshop to install the carb. I can't stand seeing it in my back seat much longer. If opportunity for stealth installation does not occur prior to the 24th when I leave for SETEX 2012 I will be installing in hotel parking lot at Candlewood where I'm pretty sure there will be no shortage of experts to help me. Free beer for experts.

Post Re: My new Mikuni Carb for GTR23 install and review
The BoatDr said he installed a 160 jet in my carb given my performance cam and decked heads. He said once installed I should listen for knocking which would mean mixture too lean. I should call him once installed to help dial it in. I'm pretty sure some of you Candlewood hotel stayin expert mechanics can help with that, too.

You need to get that throttle lever cut so it will fit the handle or you are not going to be able to run the carb at all because the throttle cable wont fit the plastic GTR throttle lever.

Intake manifold has this "stack" on it. Do I remove that so that Mikuni elbow sits on manifold itself?

Mikuni dry fitted to GTR23 with stock Briggs side muffler. Note how close air filter is to muffler tube. Wondering if stack I removed would give more clearance? If stack remains would carb performance suffer?
