I hunt PAC. Yea I know it's crowded and full of dumb asses, but I don't have a lease and have hunted there since I was 12. The morning line up today wasn't terrible. Most everybody has their shit together. I made it there early, but not early enough to beat some one to my normal spot. He shined me off I moved on. Back up hole. It's 4:15 by now. second hole clear no one in sight. Set up. 1hr before LST couple guys come by I shine them they move on. LST Ducks are flying and dying. Great opener.

Then! Some fuckn DD wanna be pulls in 1 hour after LST. Best time of the morning puts around us for 5 min and sets up 25 yards from us. I could hear the water off his Hollow decoys lapping as he threw them in. I walk out to the marsh and politely say you have a boat right on the other side the bushes. Man your really close. No response. Said it again no response. Said fuck it sat down and watched the ducks fly circles around us. Then he breaks out his call. Oh and what a call it is. If you could imagine a basset hound mating with a mallard drake. That would be close. I say in a slightly raised voice "hey man that call seems a little flat. You may want to sharpen it up." His response " oh I just need to tune it". Nay nay I say you need to swallow it and choke on it.

End of rant. BTW 12 birds by 8 not a bad opener considering. Oh and no mojo. As soon as we turned it off they started landing and not flaring. Bunch of pass shooting after day break till then.

My only opening day rant is the Ducks were all over me only problem is it was opening day for firearm deer not ducks. The only buck I seen was cutting through my front yard when I pulled in on the four wheeler.

What part of PAC were you at. I was on the island road side up by the limited area on the northwest side. I had went and set a blind on Friday. Sat morning I was in it about 4:50. Some guy upset and left because I was on the same area as him, but I was 250yards away. I never saw his blind while out there building mine. The guy left mad. I was sorry but I had my daughter and just decided to stay. Seen 2 other boats setup around me within 150yards. I didn't bitch and leave. It's opening weekend so I just deal with it. Needless to say we did ok considering I was letting my daughter shoot 1st. I was just cleaning up. Got buzzed by alot of teal and never shot hoping they would decoy.

I am surprised that there are not more people ranting about opening day problems! The opener here in Florida is almost always a cluster and I threaten to skip it every year but cannot help myself. 250 yards on opening day is a dream on some of these lakes but 150 yards is getting a little close

I hunt the rear of the reserve behind GW camp. I brought my little cousin and his friend with me today and it was a lot less people. Still got my limit the Cuz and his buddy couldn't find their ducks. I found where the guy was yesterday and he was no more than 75ft behind me. Built a blind out of logs and twigs no brush. Bout laughed my ass off.

Its not opening day here but we had 2 teenagers this morning show up an hour after shooting and had one on either side of us with no decoys trying to shoot the birds we were working. Lets just say after the talk we gave them they will never be back there again

Built a blind the day before opener, showed up at 350am and someone was sitting in it. Went to my plan B pond and someone was pulling in. Luckily the guy was nice enough and let me hunt with him. PRWMA is a disaster opening day.
Oh and to add to the madness, people were shooting at 515. Couldn't see your hand in front of your face but they were shooting.

Somebody is sitting in my blind opening day I'd let em have the spot, but I'd pull every fuckin twig outta the ground I put out first

Our state laws require 500yrds between blinds unless they are on private property and the owner approves it. One more week and our second split opens along with goose but it's only open for a week

GW on middle river were enforcing different rules than GW on the west. Plus they hang out at the launch not down in the marsh. I got stoppe at 315 and the GW said he already seen 10 boats go by.

Not wanting to hi-jackbut looking for some info. Can anyone give me a little direction in regards to PAC. Looking to make a hunt there, but I've never been. I've fished and crabbed there before. Which launch should I check out? Island road or the one across the canal? Will have a boat blind. Looking to go scout Saturday after lunch and hunt Sunday morning.

Any info would help, either a reply or a PM would be greatly appreciated.

They made us wait till 3:45 before allowing us to put in. I launched at 4 but I was 10 or 15 back in line. There were trucks lining up on the road so for safety sake I think they let every one go. I got to the landing abt 3:45.

My biggest complaint about this weekend is all the dumbass top water duck dynasty mutherfukers who cut their 10 trillion candlepower led lights on as soon as the their boat leaves the trailer, and run down the channel blinding everybody up and down the bayou.

The damn light bars are for finding you way through the marsh or timber in unmarked waters, not running down a 100 yard wide canal with traffic in both directions. Your nav lights should be the only thing on until you get off the major bayou, river, channel, or whatever.

I'm not talking about guys gorilla launching in some creek somewhere, i'm talking about a major public launch with over 100 trucks launching duck boats and bay boats and shrimp boats running in the bayou.

And while I'm at it....if you pull back up to the marina with the double back down launch after you hunt and a guy is backing his truck down the ramp on one side, don't pull your shiny new boat up behind his submerged trailer and hop out to run get your truck while the other 5 guys in the boat just sit there blocking the ramp. The guy loading his boat may get a tad aggrevated and bumper car his way in if the other guys won't move the boat when they see what's going on.

Sounds to me like you need a big light bar to shine back!
