 Prarie pothole duck hunting
Have any of you guys ever done any public land hunts in this area and could help me pick a place to go? I would prefer to keep it in the US and not go over into Canada. I have a couple friends that all want to make a trip up there in september-october of next year. Just looking for the best areas that have a lot of public land or a lot of the PLOTS as they call it. I know its a little early to be talking about next years duck season but I am a college kid and my friends are too so it would take me us a while to save up enough to cover the cost. Would prefer to hunt dry fields because I've never done that before or the shallow marshes they have. Don't care too much for doing an open water hunt cause i can shoot the shit out of divers at home.

 Re: Prarie pothole duck hunting
We used to take a trip to sykeston North Dakota every year for a self guided hunt for the last ten years. Won't be going back. It used to great huntin up there. The last few years the place has gotten so outfitted it's ridiculous. We stayed in the back of the bar that was in town. They had an apartment in the back. Always a fun time but like i said. Ground is starting to get hard to come by that ain't outfitted. A lot of the ground we used to hunt is now all posted for outfitters. If you wanna go up early. As early as the non resident opener opens. We used to go towards the end of October but most of the ducks get educated or pushed out by then now.
