I've got a few questions. How can I tell from looking online what the water clarity will be? And What is the best tide range for bow fishing? Because I've got a GatorTail 1748 with a 25hp outboard I can't go if the water is too shallow, but if the water is too deep you can't see the fish. I was thinking about going Wednesday night in leeville. I know that I'm going to get a few people suggesting that I use my trolling motor rather than the outboard. The problem is the light bar keeps me from deploying the trolling motor, and it is still in the way if I deploy the trolling motor before then attaching the light bar. I will eventually buy a mudmotor but I'd like to be able to bow fish in the mean time. I appreciate all the help I can get thanks! |

I do a lot of bowfishing in leeville. Good luck! Most of the property is leased out and the leasee's will be out there. There is a big push for making the land public to bowfish, but it hasn't happened yet. Also, you cant look online to know water clarity. If it rains a lot, the water will be dirty, if its windy, the water will be dirty. There has been an extremely high tide with all the south winds and rain we've been having. Also, good luck with an outboard, trying to bowfish in leeville. Shallow water, and oysters don't like outboards. Long story short, you may not do too well. We bowfished just a few nights ago, and shot 5 fish. Not a good night. |

I'm not familiar with your area but I have done a bit of bowfishing. We fished for years without a proper set of lights on the boat. We used handheld spotlights with great success. I'm saying this because you can lose the bow light, run your trolling motor and use handhelds. Another option is push polling. You can slow-troll with a push pole in shallow water and kill a lot of fish. . |
