I'm getting ready for our MN trapping season which starts on the 22 or 29 depending on what and where you trap. Who else here traps and what do you run a line for?

I mainly focus on muskrat, mink, and coons. I will end up catching skunks and grinners also. I'll trap open water and then through the ice once it freezes here. I also want to start doing a bit of beaver trapping this year.

Beaver and mink for me, once everything freezes it's yote time. I run a line just because it's something to do in the afternoons with the kids and wife. And it give me a good reason to go scout for ducks.

I agree, I've learned more by being out in the woods trapping than doing anything else.

I'm a trapper. I trap about everything as the season rolls on. I will lay off trapping if fur prices bottom out. I use trapping to gain access to property. Beavers have been my best avenue.

I used to go with my grand paw we trapped for nutra, muskrat, otter, mink, and rabbits from when I was a kid till he passed. This thread brings back many good memories! I learned alot about the outdoors from him!

Been getting out some on the weekends. Still WARM here. Muskrats and beavers is all I've spent time on lately. I picked up an otter last weekend too which was a welcomed surprise.

60# 53# and a young'un that got in the way. Since the market is down I only chase the big ones. Last year's average was 53 lbs with 15 beaver. This warm weather has made for a slow start.

I eat all of them, can't tell the difference between big or little. Grind it up as burger.

Big beavers. Some friends of mine cooked one at the camp one night, they said it stunk while cooking but that it tasted good. Not as good as nutria

Brine the meat in salt water for 24 hrs, changed half way to draw out the blood. Crockpot them with favorite bbq sauce for an awesome pulled beaver samitch.
