I've tried researching multiple different websites and haven't found the answer I'm looking for. If it's been asked here please point me in the right direction. Anyway my question is i found some islands on the river with oxbows in them while scouting. They look like good duck holes but the edges are lined with deer tracks. Can I legally shoot a deer while duck hunting? If I do shoot a deer do I have to stop duck hunting after I shoot one? I live in Louisiana, I don't know if laws on this would vary state to state. Any help is appreciated |

Slugs. Don't carry buckshot or you run the risk of that whole lead shot issue. One of the guys that ducks hunts near us deer hunts out of his blind with a rifle at the same time he duck hunts. |

Sounds good. I could bring my rifle but I feel like it would be over kill. The opposite bank is only 30 yards, i will be bringing a few slugs with me in the morning. Thanks |

Make sure whatever choke you're using for steel shot can also handle slugs. Normally slugs should be shot out of an open or IC choke. |

Unscrew your choke, drop in a slug and go to work. I've brought home several deer and hogs this way from the duck blind. |

I have an old youth model single shot 4/10 I'm going to bring with me. I figure I'll already have it loaded so I don't have to worry about unloading or loading, il just pull up and shoot if needed. |

Isn't it illegal to carry lead shot of any kind while hunting waterfowl? |
