Does anyone else sink there trees as attractions for fish? A buddy of mine mentioned he's goin this weekend to drop 3. Don't know if it's a good idea or not. It seems like it could work with a cinder block tied to it. Any opinions?

People around my area do it every year. Seems to work pretty well if you can keep other people from finding your new made honey hole.

It's a standing tradition this time of year for us. My brother and I run around and pick them up from folks we know and haul them to the camp. Usually a 20' trailer and two truck beds worth and start making trips out to our hole on the "brush barge" He has a 26' pontoon with no sides, all open deck that we use just for brush and a swimming platform in the summer. We always do this at night and leave no visible markers. All on GPS. As of the end of last summer the brush pile was 30x50x15'. Loooooots of catfish, perch, and even a handful of nice bass caught off that thing when the waters right.

Long story short, yes, Christmas trees make great fish cover.

You need to check with your local authorities. A lot of lakes are okay with it. However, some pull their drinking water from the lakes and they consider it "dumping".

I typically use pre-made concrete blocks and not the CMU kind they wont sink anything.

This would be a local canal they use to drain lake okeechobee into the intracoastal. Talked to FWC today and couldn't get a yes or a no. The officer basically said it's not something typically asked and he wasn't sure. So....I'm gonna wait a week or so and drop a few.
