Caught 35 bar fish today and accidentally snagged this spoonbill. Didn't keep it because everyone was saying it had to be over 30" lower jaw- fork length so i tossed it. Got back home and realized you cant keep the ones that exceed 30". Does anyone know why they don't allow you to keep the larger ones? It makes more sense to me that you couldn't keep the ones smaller than 30". The only reason i could think is that the larger ones have the ability to spawn more etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Yes, it is about spawning. Something to do with the number of eggs produced being dramatically more once they reach a certain size, and their survivability goes up once they get that big. |

And to me in a way it keeps people from keeping next to none because when they are that small there isn't much meat worth the trouble. And most people think they are trash fish but they taste awesome Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
