Heading to Leeville in October and curious if anyone had any tips for me? Went to hackberry earlier this year and going to try somewhere new.

From what little reading I've done everyone is saying black or purple w/ chartreuse soft plastics, spinnerbaits and spoons.

Do you fish the soft plastics on popping corks or just swim them on a jig head?

I always use live mullet on a Carolina rig when I head off to Corpus Bay. I use crappie jigs for specked trout, sometimes the reds will hit them.

I've caught a bunch on dead fresh shrimp about 24" under a popping cork.

30 lb power pro main line with 20 or 30 lb flourocarbon leader. Spinning reels work best for me as well.

Live mullet on a Carolina rig with the tail snipped off, shrimp on a popping cork, new penny hull shrimp on a jig head, top dog jr. heck there are a lot of options, biggest key is learning the tide and finding them.

Cuts oming off flats when tide dropping or on the flats,
I always found them hanging on the edge of oyster reefs of edges of grassy areas, both where its more sandy and clearer. Deeper holes in the middle of the flats are good spots. Go up wind and drift down on these spots if possible anchor short of area and tightline down wind from boat.(this is where spud pole keeps you from swinging on anchor rope) I have caught many like that in Redfish Bay and Aransas Bay. BTW Bimini top is really nice with that cold beer while waiting for the reds.

sight fishing reds from a tower is my favorite, personally. Bowfishing is the next best thing, hunting them at night is a whole different experience. you'll love it.
