Added an Avian X hen decoy to my DSD decoy- love both of them. Plan on reading Lovett Williams book on turkey biology, and hoping I can find an affordable copy of anything by Tom Kelly. Anybody got the fever early? |

Avians are great, the Colonel is great. I'm ready for anything to take the sting of this last duck season off. Gotta call a guy pretty soon about getting a hunt set up in your neck of the woods so I can cross that one off my slam list. Love hunting the wily bastards though. We have been going on a duck hunt in Oklahoma these past several seasons, Rocky -Quartz Mountain area. The landowner has befriended us, and invited us back on a spring Rio hunt. I think it has a lot to do with us feeding and cooking Cajun Food everytime we come up. Last trip cost us a pot of pastalaya, and a gallon of fried oysters. He is asking for a Crawfish Fettuccine on this trip. H Finn |

The DSD's are awesome! For the price, I'd probably get the Avian. I need to think about updating my decoys... |

My vest rear bag can now fit both the DSD and deflated Avian X decoy well. It would have been too much with two DSD's. I usually use only one hen but this gives me a good option. Ordered a Woodhaven mouth call, satisfied with my pots and couple of box calls. Because of the usually high humidity here in Florida, I put my friction calls in a zip lock but many times this is not enough, rendering them near useless. Any suggestions? Mouth call is definitely a winner in these conditions. |

Well scratched slate or crystal are my go to in rain aside from mouth calls. I just switch to a plastic or composite tipped striker. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk |

Thanks. I have couple of those hollow tip strikers. When conditions are right, my glass pot call sounds real good. Should I invest in one of those push pin calls? Only seen the Quaker boy easy yelper once- the one negative is the spring seems to fall out. Somebody recommended the Knight/Hale Fighting purrs? |

Scouted this past weekend! Two more weeks to go! My wife said I was gobbling, not snoring, during sleep, you know I got it bad. Yelp yes! |

I sometimes forget how spoiled i have it here.... this is not a brag post, this is just a different area and the original location in Ontario that wild Turkey were released so many years ago to repopulate the birds here. It worked. There are 83 turkeys walking my property daily. Half are Jake's and a few Tom's here and there. I routinely stop in the road and have to wait for them to cross before carrying on. I managed to secure the property from the farmer I live beside by occasionally helping him with his cattle, killing coyotes (3 in the last 8 days), and bringing them duck and goose meat. Good trade IMO. 83 is nice, but I can only kill 2 I wish you all great success this year fellas! Support your troops. We support you. B. |

Dang, you are spoiled big time!! On these public WMA's the most birds I've seen together was a group of six hens and the tom leading them. Usually just a pair or single birds. Thanks for the well wishes! I would love to hunt coyotes! I hear them plenty here, see one once is a while. |

Any suggestions for turkey boots, preferably snake proof and waterproof? My Lacrosse Venom finally sprung major leaks despite a bunch of shoe goop I used. The Rocky boots a few years back fell apart after only two seasons! I do have my Lacrosse Grange rubbers but they are only good for short walks. I did a search on here and both the Lacrosse and Grange boots were mentioned. I cannot afford the Chippewa, Danner, Irish Setter models. |
