Heard a guy to day say that he only frogs in the winter. Is that any good??? I've never frogged in the winter. I always thought they bunkered up for the winter like the snakes and other reptiles. |

You sleep on your way there? Its colder up here than it is there and I see them every morning on the way out unless its near freezing. |

I usually only frog in the winter months. Of course, winter in louisiana isnt always freezing cold. I wait for the warm breaks between the stiff north winds and then hit them up. That usually does two things: 1.) limits my competition (i.e. most people frog in the summer) 2.) kills the high grass/lillies that you can't see through in the summer. It still gives them enough to hide in and feel comfortable, but they stick out like a sore thumb. I just went last week and got 60 really quick....could've had 3 times that, but the full moon had em duckin' before we got to em. Will probably go again at the end of next week and get em. |

I'm personally going to wait until next week when the temps warm up a little. I usually wait until the temps in the day are around the 60's and night temps are around 45. I cant stand frogging on the colder nights and I just don't find the frogs are out as much. I look at it like fishing. If I go on a day that the weather isn't the greatest I may catch some, but if I pick and choose my days carefully, I greatly improve my odds. You'll catch some froggin those nights where the weather is 30 degrees, but you are going to be miserable doing it. |

The basin lol. Henderson, out of sandy cove, the amy bayou, the bayou teche, down in perry in the crawfish canals and crawfish ponds, in duson in the crawfish ponds, Toledo Bend when we go to the camp, and down in erath a good bit where my cousin's live. I'm pretty sure i missed some. Just all depends on who im with that weekend depends on where we going frogging. We also frog the vermillion river when its high enough to get to the river from the cypress bottom that way we get into all the little cypress bottoms lol. Also when the Atchafalaya river is up to like 10' or higher we frog the back of out hunting lease in butte la rose where its flooded up and since they logged us a few years back the frogs either float on logs or just float depending on the conditions Where do you frogg at?? |

Yeah they got a lot of frogs you just have to hit them right when no one else is punishing them. Most people frog the levee and such places but i rather go to thed back up where no one goes and i find i see more and find bigger ones. we caught one over the summer that went just over 3 lbs. and one in Toledo Bend that was 2 1/2 lbs. But we go where most people pass back up in ditches and little coves and such where there isn't as much traffic |
