We have been trapping the Upper Mississippi River for the past 2 weeks ended up getting 28 beaver and 22 muskrats. 2 of the beaver we caught were over 70lbs and a couple were solid black. Lotta work and fun for a little extra money wouldnt have gotten to half the sets with out th MM. Enjoy

Congratulations on the catch. I would consider that a good hall. I am not sure what pelt prices are now. Looks like you had fun.

We have been getting about $22.00 for a blanket and $7.00 for muskrats. The thing now days is they are giving the same price for skun or unskun animals. The casters on beaver are worth about30 dollars a pound so it make up for skining them. Since we have a shat load of casters we have been selling the hide on the carcass. They use to be worth alot more its deffinetly a diying industry |

My buddy killed one in my ponds back in the days when the GW's down here turned their head to folks shining nutria for a dollar a pop. When my buddy went to get it he almost rolled over in the pirogue. They get a little bit bigger than a nutria Before the state had the bounty on nutria I only knew a handful of guys that still trapped. Its alot of work for a fraction of what you used to get for your effort. |
