Post Bowfishing Generator Recommendation???
Trying to decide b/w Generac iX2000 and a Honda EU2000iA

I have read a few bad reviews on the Generac which kinda makes me start considering the Honda more....

Like the Generac because it is actually rated at 2000 / 2200 Max while the Honda is actually 1600 / 2000 Max...

Anyone have any recommendations? Generac has a lower price tag but it is more about performance to me and not having it crap out on the water....

I use a Honda 2000 and like it a lot but I also would like a little more power. I have been hesitate about that Generac due to the reviews also. I would look at the Yamaha 2400 if you want more power.

If you decide on the Honda, you can get them online for $899.

I have the Honda EU3000iA and ran it at 3000 watts and now run it at 2700 and i love the damn thing. i bowfish saltwater and never had a problem with it and hardly burns any gas and we can easily talk from the back of the boat to the front.

yea really leaning toward the 2000iA right now and having the ability to parallel it with another 2000iA or the Companion later down the road if i need the extra power... and having close to 4000 starting watts... 3200 continuous at less than 100# (dry weight) sounds good to me...

Do yourself a favor and get a Honda. I run a EU3000 and put about 120 hrs/month on it, has never missed a beat. A good generator is the best investment you can make when it comes to bowfishing.

I have a 2000 watt Homelite powered by a Subaru engine that I got at Home Depot. I have been really happy with it at the camp as a winter time TV & lights generator. Plenty of hours and still truckin. I think about $450.

Honda's strong point is the noise, or lack thereof. They are amazingly quiet compared to other engines.

I love the hondas... best money I've spent in a long time! Just make sure you have one big enough for your lights. You have to look at how many amps each light draws not just how many watts. The halogens don't pull very many amps but the high pressure sodiums do.

yea.... I have halos... just starting out so going cheap right now but will be investing in a Honda... two 500s that will pull a little over 4A and two 250s which will pull close to 2A...

will put them on two circuits of 6A each... 6x120... 750W+/- x 2 = 1500W total off the 2000 Honda rated at 1600W..... I will be running the high end 94% load.... i know i am pushing a little hard... but want decent light on a small genny right now... will get a second honda 2000 or companion later down the road.

Added a good go by file for those looking at different lights.... I will switch to HPS later down the road once i get into Bowfishing more...

to heavy.... or I would get a 6500.... looking at getting a 2000 now and another 2000 later... be running 4000 with less weight than the 3000.... and near the same dB rating...

and for those thinking that you would double the dB having two.... i have to tell ya it don't work like that... two 2000s running at max load would only produce 62dB which is about your normal speaking voice....

Ive been running a Champion 3500 i bought for $275. I went cheap due to the salt water I use to run in before this fuckkin oil. Im not paying for a honda just for bowfishing.
