I've been to caddo and on a gator tail. Looks like the prodrives are the best for up there.

Pro drive does do good with fpr but a gator tail will back up in the Vegetation y'all have there

Fishing summer time would be the only time the vegetation is going to be bad. When duck season is open everything will be dead. Also I will be hunting on the main lake mostly thats why I want to try to install power poles or talons.

I think im going to have the hardest time on finding a boat with a good livewell and a big front deck. When you by custom boat do you get a regular boat loan or do you have to do something different?

Post subject:  Re: New caddo lake guy

If that's the case then I would go with a gtr!
If I didn't live 3 hrs away I would let u run mine no problem may be some of the locals around there will chime in and give u some good advice and let u drive one

We have been out there quite a bit this summer and would have been more than happy to give you a ride, but I probably won't be back out again until spring. Are you looking for a console rig or a tiller? I know where you can probably catch a ride in a CC PD rig and a CC GT rig (gt will probably be closer to duck season though). I know a couple guys out that way with tiller pd's, but you said you've ridden in a pd rig already. Don't really know anyone to set you up with that has a tiller gt setup in that area, but most people with mudmotors are friendly and like to show them off, just flag somebody down and tell them to let you drive.

You should try to holler at Caddo Dennis! He catches more bass on that lake than anyone I know out of a tiller pd setup. He lives down there on the corner by crips. If you run the lake a lot, I'm sure you've seen him or met him. Really nice fella.

I have a Go Devil if you want to try it. I love it and hate it at the same time. I have never driven any other brand except Pro Drive and although it was easy to drive in deep water, I absolutely hate how it slams into underwater objects. I will actually be on the bayou at Jefferson tomorrow if you want to drive the dinosaur.

Thanks guys for all the info. I actually have talked to dennis numerous times but never rode in his boat. I am wanting a tiller handle.I have a post on the boat and motor section and there is a boat that was just posted that is almost exactly what I want but I want a tiller.I spend almost every weekend on caddo but I will be getting married in october so I will probably be next year till I try to order a boat.Just wanting to get some ideas before I jump into something.

Call pete at wc customs....he was building a badass bass style sd rig with livewells etc....might be pics on his website of it. Thats the boat you would definately be interested in.

Thanks guys. I'm only 15 mins. From the lake so even a short notice will be fine. The Gtr has my interest right now. The pd was very impressive but I really feel like the GTR will do what I need just fine.

Is there a big price difference between Gator tail and prodrive?

I drove my GDSD on a 1854 gt boat w/poly at the caddo run. Boat ran great, and kept up with everyone really well. Reverse would have been convenient, yes, but I made it just fine (even with an inoperable kill switch). Trim would be cool too for when the water depth changes, but I really didn't make but 1 or 2 adjustments on the ol trim knob the whole weekend. Again, I made it just fine.

I was actually planning on buying a gtr to upgrade, but bought an airboat to run the local river instead. I am keeping my mud boat for now for the fun runs and windy days though...

Where you from? I live 5 min from the lake in Blanchard. I have stage 3 prodrive on a 1750 gatortrax boat. Don't have a live well but do have a extended fishing deck. Also have a buddy with a gatortail boat and motor, 1750 with a rear hunt deck. 2 totally different boats we might be able to get you out in.

Hey Andy I am from the Tx side of caddo. At the Dallas caddo club. When I come home in a month or so I would take u for a ride. I have a 20x54 willett custom with a gtr on it. It's a center console. U would like it. Would be real easy to put a live well in a boat that size. Pm me and I will get ur contact info. Also have a buddy with a pd tiller with a brother custom boat u could drive too. Another guy from the area (jmarsh) has a mud buddy he might let u drive
