Going to Big Pines Lodge. Is this a boat ride or a Truck ride deal?

Either or...boat ride is more fun, but bring some clear glasses or goggles and keep your mouth shut on the way back if you take the boat.

Dunno if 3ck is gonna change his mind or not, but there will likely be a decent sized group heading to river bend for dinner on friday night. Dunno what time, likely sometime shortly before dark.

Welllllllll...just got some news that the river may be closed due to high water. That would put a damper on several things we'd like to do. Maybe it'll drop enough over the next few weeks for us. We can still get to dinner by vehicle, but it'll change the route we make in the am, and kinda screw up the ol trip to jefferson.

They aren't open today, but I'll call tomorrow and see if we can reserve the patio, and see how many people they can accommodate. If I need to get a head count, I'll start a new thread.

Looks like we're going to have a pretty good amount of people in on Friday, so we should have a pretty good sized group for dinner. Would everyone be okay with a short menu if that will help them out?

Too high to stand at onion island?

And good to know about the river. I talked to someone with a place out there yesterday and he said it's not outta the banks yet. Even if they didn't shut it down, don't think we'd wanna run 90 boats through the river if it was that high.

There will be shade at Onion Island, but no dry land, didn't check water depth, when we got there, a storm was moving in so we cut across lake hit boat road "A" to "U" then hauled butt to Big Pines for a hot meal. Btw took "C" from beginning to around Millers Point to get to onion island. It all looks a little different but I had a lake map to get there. No problems. Took me about 15 min from Onion Island to Johnsons Ranch.

Good deal. How was the food? I've been thoroughly unimpressed last couple trips there. They still doing that buffet thing?

You can order from menu or do buffet and imo it has gotten better over the last few months. They now have a loaded tator wedges that are outstanding, nacho cheese, bacon, green chopped onions, jalapenos and sour cream over wedges of baked tators! A meal in itself!!!!!
