Post Winter pup training.....
boats are stored and it's time for winter puppy training. No snow yet in northern Illinois
and I'm not complaining. Pounce is almost seven months old and saving a few goose wings
has worked out well.

On Christmas day Pounce got her goose ("kind of") to retrieve. The last goose hunt of the
season (for me) resulted in freezing a few wings. If they are zip-tied together, the result
becomes a perfect pup "bird throw".

Pounce didn't need much "jazzing up" before we hit the field because she'd already seen and
"pounced" all over one after the last hunt. Therefore, I had the goose wings in one hand, a
camera hanging around my neck and Pounce was placed on a remote sit. The plan was to walk
off about 40 yards, toss the "goose", get my camera mounted and focused, start the "burst
mode" and release Pounce from her stable sit.

It was well planned out and Pounce was more than ready. In fact so ready, she was "licking
her chops" with anticipation.

She's fast, too!

Maybe a bit too fast!

She is definitely intense.

Two goose wings work well!

note: These photos are not all from the same single.

Thanks Jim, we are excited to get back into full training mode now that 2014 is over.

Question? Do you have any experience with the Michael Ellis, Leerburg training DVD's?

Well, your question caused a big smile. Let's just say "Some see what
they want to see...while others understand it." The "carry over" to
retriever training is applicable.

Training in drive can be effective! 8-)

Jim, Not sure what your response implies but I sprung for the Sport Dog series and the puppy DVD. Guess I will find out. Problem for me is I am always looking for a better way to connect with my mutts. Maybe a better way is not what I mean but not sure how to put it. Guess if I pick up one thing that makes a difference I will be happy.
Thanks
