Re: New member of the family!!
I've heard nothing but good things about them man. Congrats. Supposed to be badass lil retrievers. I assume you're planning on training her? I been wanting to get one for about a year now. A small dog would work so much better for my house and the places that I hunt. Right now I have a pit, and she's still young and a lil rambunctious. When she gets a lil older I will probably get me a boykin.

Re: New member of the family!!
She is a sweat lil dog. I think she is gonna be a good one!! Already started the process teaching her to sit now!! My buddy from al. has her brother>>We talked about when he breeds his i could get a puppy.. Well the guy who has the mom and dad kept this one.. His wife was pregnant and had a lot of stuff going and didnt have time to train her.. So here she is best thing is it will only cost me a bow fishing trip!!

Nice pup. She is a pretty pup. I wanted to get a spaniel, but the wife doesn't like them.

Re: New member of the family!!
Congrats. I have kicked around the idea ever since I met the cat up at Caddo that had one. Its that time to finally get me a new pup as the ol dog is having to much trouble with his hips. I just cant let go yet though. We spent the last 10 years together chasing ducks and he still wants to go. But I don't think he has another season in him. I definately want a smaller dog in the 60 lb range as a max weight.

Re: New member of the family!!
Congrats Terry, I was looking into getting one myself. My next dog purchase will be a boykin. I have heard that they are fairly easy to train.
I like a small dog,Dixie my lab wieghs in at a hefty 50 pounds. She is the smallest lab I have ever had and I never want a bigger dog for what I do.

Re: New member of the family!!
Congrats Terry! My buddy has one out of GRHRCH Mule from Just Ducky Kennels in SC. He is a great dog. He upland hunts with him as well as duck hunts. They only thing he has a problem with is very cold water. They just dont have the insulation like a lab. Get her a vest, they help, but still sometimes its just too cold for him. Now as long as his dog is dry, he will push pheasants in the snow! Congrats again and have fun with her!

Here's some pics of mine when she was a pup. They're interesting little dogs.

Re: New member of the family!!
I think mine might really be crazy. When she was the same size as yours she was bouncing off the walls. The poor german shepard caught yhe brunt of her attention. Mine was a shoe collector too, she would pile them up in a corner of the hall. Boykins make good squirrel dogs or at least mine would or a rabbit dog. Another funny thing mine will do is if a mosquito or fly gets in the house she will watch it fly around for hours and as soon as it gets low enough she will jump up in the air and eat it.
Unc J, She has moved on to humping the back of his head now.
