 teal season and dogs
Drake is getting ready for hunting season, just got a little bit of fine tuning left to do. This will be our first season to hunt together so I am excited. I would like to use him during Teal season but kinda nervous about gators, anyone ever had problems?

 Re: teal season and dogs
Mine is still too young (4months) to do any retrieving. But I plan to bring him out in the boat. That is if there is enough room. Me, my son and a dog, it might get cramped. But we'll see. If I bring mine, I plan to put him on a short leash so he don't jump overboard.
OAN(trying not to steal your thread), do you guys that hunt in the middle of lakes, a ways away from the bank, still use your dogs? When mine is ready to hunt, I'm worried about grass, lillies and such.

All depends were you hunt. I hunt the marsh a good bit and use my dog. But I do spend a lot of time before day light shining the water.

Teal season and dogs do not mix in my area. Way too many big gators.

 Re: teal season and dogs
We don't have gators up here in N. Texas but the freakin cottonmouths are everywhere during teal season. If I had a dog, I'm not sure I'd take him out until it cooled off a lil bit.

 Re: teal season and dogs
Saw a buddy step on a gator last year and had it roll. Took his legs right out from under him. Never seen an investment banker run on water before. After that, no way would I bring a dog. Only a 380.

 Re: teal season and dogs
I bring gator killers during teal season (00-buckshot), i keep a close eye on my dog on every single retreive, the thing about a gator is you'll see it way before it attacks, a gator attacks from the surface never from underwater. I am very causious about my dog, she is my partner
