Nutro Naturals Lamb/Rice Puppy. Not the highest quality 80.00 per bag food out there, but dollar for dollar no doubt one of the best hands down.

I always gave mine Iams or Purina pro plan... I hunt with a vet and he says those are good dog foods...

he said that the pedigree and regular purina dog chow is no better than OL'Roy though

Purina Pro Plan there is no better for the money! I worked for a pro trainer for 5 years and we had a vet on staff and this was by far the best dog food for the money! Body and coat condition was bar none as compared to other foods that dogs were on when we got dogs in the kennel. Stay away from organics!

Diamond Naturals Extreme Athlete has been the best for my dogs. It has great protien levels for canine athletes and has the fat levels to keep them cool. Recent studies have shown that the fat levels need to be about 22% to keep your dog cool during those good early season hunts and trials.

$32-$34 a 40lb Bag @ Tractor Supply Co.
http://www.diamondpet.com/products/diam ... e_athlete/

I started out feeding Eukanuba lamb and rice till it got higher than a cats back. I have fed Science Diet and everything in between. I never had any luck with anything from Purina, and I have tried it several different times with different dogs b/c Purina has the best sponsor programs but it never worked for my dogs. As a good rule of thumb if corn meal is listed in the first few ingredients it is prolly no bueno...

HH_Kennels, thanks for sharing that brand. I have been feeding Blue Buffalo, but with the idea of getting another lab(probably a rescue), I am thinking of changing foods. This seems to be a good one. And we've just got a Tractor Supply in town.

I started my k9 partner when I got him on Taste of the Wild, Bison/Venison,
I have had him since April and he is doing very well on it. So well in fact I switch my hunting dog, a choc lab, over to it as well.

Solid stools and they both have great coats right now.
95% of our k9 department use taste of the wild

I feed the diamond naturals small breed puppy. Will switch to small breed adult in a couple months. Has been a good food for me. And Tractor Supply here has the best selection of Diamond foods. There is the Diamond regular or the Naturals line. You want the Naturals.

Eukanuba high performance 30/20

* no split nails
* good stools
*lots of protein for more gas in the tank
Might cost a lil more but its worth it

How are you guys using the "Diamond" brand dog food liking it?

Post subject:  Re: Dog Food Reviews

I've always had good luck with it. One of my cousins used to breed pit's and thats all he fed them. I haven't fed mine anything else since then. Don't run labs or hunting dogs, just a house dog, but she is healthy.

I know he switched to something a lil more fatty during the winter. Believe he fed maintenance during the summer if I'm not mistaken. I know that was one of the two he switched back and fourth on. I feed mine the lamb and rice light or diet whatever. She used to eat the regular lamb and rice but was starting to get a lil too healthy. lol

Diamond Naturals is the the ticket...very good dog food. You can get the same dog food from Diamond Naturals from Costcos...the only difference is that Diamond puts it in a Kirkland Signature bag. You will save $5 a bag too for the same dog food you get at TSC. I have (15) 6 month old pup labs I am training ...and these dudes can put down some puppy food...I am making a weekly trip to Costcos.

I switched my dog 2 weeks ago from Science Diet to Blue Buffalo and it has already made an amazing difference, he is starting to finally fill out and his coat is much thicker and softer. When he was on Science diet he looked skinny and unhealthy but he never missed a meal, with Blue Buffalo in just two weeks he is looking alot more healthy.

Anyone try Victor? It's from a place in Texas. I got a friend that has a dock dog and he is very active and is in great shape. He swears by it. Als the feedings are like 3cups a day.
It's sold from feed stores also. The closest place that carries it is in Hammomd area.
They have a 42/22 mix. :o

I have been feeding my Labradors Royal Canin Labrador 30 for YEARS. My old dog that passed in 2005 was on it for about 8 years of his life and I was always happy with how he looked and never any joint problems. Gordy has been on all the life cycles of it from Baby, Puppy to Labrador 30. I like the way the kibble is made it does make them chew it up more in my opnion. Not the cheapest stuff but we buy 10 we still get one free from he company.

10 minute video got some nice looking block heads in it and food info.

Switched my dog to Diamand Natural L&R puppy. Everyone seems to be pleased with the Diamand brand. Not being a tight a$$, but $25 for a 15lb bag of Nutro Max puppy vs. $33 for a 40lb bag of Diamand puppy.

Had my dog on dimond natural's lamb and rice and didnt fair too well with her. Always had loose stool. She's on Taste of the wild wetland's now and she is doing great and has really filled out.

Really depend's on the dog i think

Science Diet is strictly the only thing i have ever fed (besides bread when I run out of food). 14 year old beagle that thinks he's still a puppy. It only has a ranking of 2 on the scale they provide. Also, Didn't see local cafiteria scraps on that list... But hey if keeps my uncles 75-100 head of hounds fed and healthy.

I started using What's called Blue Buffalo and it really brings out the coat on a dog, Zae is shinier than ever and she seems to like it alot better and acts like she has more energy and performs really well with a cup full in the morings before we hit the pond!
