This stuff is the best feed I've found in twelve years! And at .65 a pound you can't beat it.

Has anyone used BilJac dog food? I talked with a product rep and the recipe seemed to make sense, but was looking for a comment from someone who has fed it to a hunting dog.

Shoota, how much is that food? I've been waiting for them to get some in my area. The closest is North of the lake.

I have fed my pup Purina Pro Plan, Large breed puppy since I got her at 10 weeks. I like the food, but she will tend to get heavy if not exercised regularly. I feed two cups in the morn and two in the eve. My .02

I have tried a few different ones. When we first got Sadie she was on Iams. We then moved her to Pro Pac, then to Holistic Select Grain Free, and now she is on Earthborn. So far so good.

Two different vets in my area have told me to take a puppy off the high powered puppy food early, maybe at 4 to 5 months. They say the dogs are growing off too fast and that their bodies are growing faster than their internal organs which is causing sever problems for some of them later on. He suggested a half and half mixture (audlt/puppy food) with a lower proten percentage after 4 months old. I told him I had never heard of anything like this before, he said, years ago 30% plus protein dog food was not around and that too much protein, when when a dog is not being worked hard can be harmful and that it just not needed to grow off a strong health dog.

Didn't see anywhere in here of anyone using Wellness Core. I have been feeding that to my lab since she was a puppy, just gave it to her puppies no issues. I swear its like rocket fuel!

Do any of yal that have boykins feed anything with chicken as the main ingredient or in the ingredient list. I have been told in the past that some boykins develope allergies to chicken. I hava always fed Lamb an rice because of that info. I use to feed Blue Buffalo lamb and rice but i switced to Science diet lamb and rice because i had to drive over an hour to get the Blue Buffalo. science diet is the only quality food that is sold around where i live. and since the switch my boykin has lost a little bit of weight and his coat isnt quite as good as it was on the blue buffalo. what are some of the feeds you guys are feeding your boykins and having success with?

Ive fed them all. I would eat bologna so my dogs could eat steak. (Proplan performance). After all you only feed what you can afford. I have clients that feed Nutro products, but I have a client thats a nutro rep and thier dogs eat pro plan sooooo what does that say.

Nutro Max for my lab from 8 weeks to now 10 yrs and he has a shinny coat and is stout. We had 2 mutts growing up, 1 had skin alergies every summer, vet would give shots only to clear up for a short while, a friend told us to switch to Nutro and never had another skin problem again, those dogs lived long, the female 15.5 yrs (heart mumor), and the male 17yrs (kidney failure). I hope my lab makes it that long, and from the looks of it he still has a few good years left, vet said he is fine to still hunt.

Been feeding mine Wellness Core Original since she was a puppy. When I bred her I switched her back to the wet puppy formula and fed that to her while she was nursing and started the pups on it. Switched her back to the dry after she weened pups.

She is almost six years old and you would never know it. I am a firm believer in this food. It is like giving them a combination of gun powder and rocket fuel. Her coat is as shiny and pretty as ever.

Ive fed my last two labs Blue Buffalo. Blue wilderness salmon blend. Gives a nice healthy, shining coat and is full of natural ingredients. a bit pricy along the lines of $55/40lb bag but my dogs are the ones in water in Nov/Dec in Minnesota hutning, so i think this food fits my situation best.

I have been feeding Natural Balance Sweet Potato and Fish (No fillers)

Also give her Happy Hips Duck Jerky for a treat.

Her coat is nicer and she dosent eat nearly as much as she did before -- she actually put on weight so I had to cut back how much I was giving her
