Dehydrate your own meats/veggies/fruits to use as treats for your dogs? I have a list of what is good for dogs and we usually give my dog a treat every day/every-other day. We core an apple and give him the wedges, chopped bannas, leftover rice from dinner, green beans and other veggies. Also, what about wild game meat? Is it OK to give cooked deer meat or waterfowl meat? Obviously not seasoned. What about dehydrated/jerky deer meat/birds? |

Reason I ask about dehydrating is so it will keep longer. Cooked food is only good for a week or so and then got to be trashed. I don't want to kill my dog with bad food. I just had a few thoughts after seeing jerky treats at petsmart. Any thoughts on the wild game meats? |

Dogs eat tampons and turds. I had about 20lbs of deer meat that went bad, the thought crossed my mind to smoke it. Wild dogs dont smoke their meat before consumption, so I just tossed it all to the German Shep and he loved it. Theres a type of dog food out there called in the raw or something similar, it's super expensive and it's what all of those dog show weirdos feed their dogs. It's not near the quality of the scraps I throw my dogs. |

Poker, thanks for that. I didn't notice any of the RAW foods on there before. This time I did. All those RAW foods listed rated 5 stars. Final conclusion is dogs can just about eat anything. Meat ,Raw inparticular, has the highest protein content. I, however, don't care to feed my dog real bones. I once had a dog that ate a chicken bone and choked on it. I won't scold my day anymore for hanging around while cleaning waterfowl from a hunt. I might just drop him a bit. Also, from some looking around venison is really good for them. Thanks guys. I still may look at doing dehydrated treats with real meat. It would be easier to store and easier to feed. |

Thanks for the input guys. Very helpful. Just trying to give my dog a variety of treats. I give the BB wafers, milkbonz and fruits and veggies. Dehydrated meats would be easier/better for my wife and kids to handle. |

If Im not mistaken -- Raw chicken bones are fine for a dog but when you cook them they splinter and choke em |
