Post Dog Kennel
OK, i'm about to build me a good dog kennel before i buy my first pup. Can someone please give me some good ideas. I live along the water. I was thin king about a cemet or wood floor.

Also, what would be easier to train, male or female. My 11 year old son will be helping me train the puppy

Thanks

cement for sure.... i made a wooden deck for my ol lab when I was in highschool and it stunk bad. the piss and sh!t gets in there and makes it stink...

i think you can train either male or female if u spend time with them.

I'd make sure the dog knows your its master though and dont let your son confuse it while trying to train it.

I made one for a cousin of mine about ten years ago and its still like new. Pour you a slab and put four anchor bolts at the corner. I welded up the frame using some 1 1/2" steel pipe. I hammered the ends closed some before welding them so I didn't have to saddle the pipe. I let the corner pipes extend a few inches below the kennel as legs so you could hose the crap out. On the bottom of these legs I welded a flat plate to anchor the kennel to the slab. I welded cattle panels, 4" x 6" I believe, to the frame but I would go with horse panel, 2" x 4", instead because his dogs head got stuck a few times. He had went with cattle panels because they were a lot cheaper. We put a sheet metal roof. It was worth then investment cause his dog would eat those cheap hurricane fence type like it was candy. There are some damn nice, heavy duty kennels at Tractor Supply if you don't weld.
