Great looking Chessie ya got there. I have one that was born Dec.15th. It's hard to believe he'll be about the same size as yours when duck season gets here. Nothing beats watching a good dog work. Congrats!!!

I was told once if you want a dog that will hunt with you get a lab, but if you want a dog that will let you hunt with him get a chesepeake.
Always wanted a Chesepeake just never wanted to pick all da hich hikers off da fur after da hunt.

she is doing really well in training right now. she made it through obedience training, and now he is working on force fetch. i cant wait to see how she will turn out. oh and i heard the same story a long time ago about getting a lab to hunt with you or get a chesepeak and hunt with him. its very true they are truly one of a kind. They are very smart but they can have a harder head than a lab. If a trainer can break that and get them to be obedient you will be completely sold on chesepeaks, and will never buy anything different.

That's a fact Jack. Chessies have a TOTALLY different mindset than a lab. They don't put up with no BS either. Gotta give em their respect. Once you come to an understanding though they're hard to beat. Their drive is nothing short of amazing. IMO a good dog is the single most important thing a waterfowl hunter should have. Can't wait to see some pics of her bringin' in some greenheads this fall! :D

Great lookin pup. I have raised and trained 7 chessie's in my lifetime, everyone of them was
unique and certainly had a mind of their own. You can steal most man's Labs, but you can't
steal a man's chessie.

Yeah she is with him. They left a couple weeks ago. I'm not sure when they are going to be back. Did the silver lab go with him?

Back to the subject. If you are interested in a chessie I would suggest trying to be around one for a while
They are different than a Lab. Most Labs are very friendly and easy going. They excell in field trials and hunt test because they are so tractable. Chessies are not quite as easy going and have a mind of their own. They mature a little slower, making them seem to be heard headed which is not true. They can compete in FT and HT, but they will
perform on their terms. Mine have competed in both and I prefer to just hunt with them. In the field they are tough and very focused.

That is very true. My dog has a very strong mind and it is hard to change it when she has it set. But she is making it through the training. I will post some pictures soon.
