I have a 5 month old puppy he is doing great staying, sitting, retrieving, ect. Well I happen to be riding today an seen a goose get hit so I figured I would get it to let him play with it but when I got home an let him out with it he would just run behind me. I was petting him an telling him it's all fine but just resist to even smell it. Just wondering why that it, or what to do to fix it. Thanks for any info!

try and get him to bite the wing. ive got a small lab and he brings geese back by the wing and i could care less. some ppl think thats bad but i could care less as long as it gets back to me. the good side is you only have to break 1 of the wing bones cause most of the time the other will break in the dogs mouth.

Old park geese are stinky forkers so I dont blaim him............ A goose size bird is probably not the best choice to start one on IMO. But hey, if you had a Boykin they will jump on a goose at about 2 months old and all of maybe 10lbs. She tried anyway..........

Why would you want to "Force" a 5 months old pup to handle his first goose? Start small and work your way up. He will get it. Put the goose in the freezer and start with smaller birds. Just my opinion. Duckdon

Obedience is what I'm working with only right now with him I was just wanting to let him get the smell of the goose or duck but no more than that.
