 Got any tips???
I have a well built 86lb blackie that WILL NOT jump!! It can be just as frustrating as it is embarrassing when you yell out, "Come on boy! Get in the truck!" then you hafta physically pick him up and put him on the tailgate.... A little background on ol Rocco is that he jumped outta the back of my truck at about 10mph and has never jumped since. He is just about 3 years old and I'm wondering if anyone has amy suggestions on how to get him to jump.

 Re: Got any tips???
Had a client brining up a dog for training, dog jumps out of the back of a suburban and blows her ACL. Another dog after hunting tries to jump in the back of a pickup slips on ice and cracks ribs on tailegate.
Lift his big ass up there or get a ramp. Work on the real issues with this dog...

I got a tip. buy a kennel and take care of your dog. He's doing all the work and you let him jump out of a truck?

You might try treats or his favorite toy (if he's got one) Reward him with something he really likes. Toss it in the back of the truck and encourage him to jump in. I would not encourage letting him jump out. It will be very hard on his joints over the years. Good luck.

 Re: Got any tips???
it may be kinda harsh but grab him by an ear and pull on it while telling him to load up or kennel whatever your command. after a while he will get tired of you pulling on his ear and will put forth some effort into getting in. you will have to pull pretty hard but he will learn that it sucks to be lifted in the truck by his ears so he will start jumping to avoid it. or like GregE said but a bumper or a duck in the bed and let him get it then you wont be able to keep him out.

 Re: Got any tips???
Its a confedence thing. Back up to a step or something where he don't have to jump very high. Gradually increase the height. Maybe put a door mat or something on the tailgate to give a better footing. He'll be jumping in one day.
