 how much food???
I feed my lab 3 to 4 cups a day (1 1/2 to 2 cups twice a day). she weighs around 60 lbs and I have noticed she seems to be a little on the chunky side (Ive noticed that her belly is a little flabby). My trainer told me to feed her that much and last time he saw her he mentioned that she has gained weight, although he said it wasnt bad.
Just like nobody wants to have the fat kid in school, I dont want to have the fat dog on the lake.
What do you guys think??? How much food do you guys feed? Is 60lbs too fat? Shes a smaller lab.

 Re: how much food???
Not sure how much you suppose to feed a lab. I just dump the whole bag in her cage. I repeat this about 2 times a week..

 Re: how much food???
If she is getting fat cut back on food a little or exercise more.
I cut my dogs food back during the summer cause it is too hot to run. Up it during duck season cause he is working hard.

 Re: how much food???
I try to start off with what the dog food company says and then adjust accordingly to my dogs needs. I've got three labs and all of them eat different foods and in different amounts. then I even adjust it depending on how much they are working or laying around.

 Re: how much food???
Also, check the protein and fat levels of the food you are feeding. You can put the dog on a lower protein/fat content food in the off season. Or just feed less. If you are feeding a good quality food you may not have to feed that much. My small female only gets about 2 1/2 to 3 cups of food a day.

I keep my black labs food bowl on full all the time. He is 80LBS and solid as a rock. I play ball with him every day when I get home for bout 10min. other than that he just sleeps and licks his balls on my 1800 dollar leather couch and watches animal planet while I work my butt off.
