Post my DD has a nose and the new Garmin dog tracker.
My 15 month old DD made the grade and is running the Armbruster next month in Cheyenne. I have pulled out all stops to try to get him ready. He will be running against 60 of the best young dogs from the US and Germany.

On tax free day I bought a Garmin 2 dog tracking system $700 bucks worth.

Off to city park we go. I lay a 150 yard duck drag, and send Franky.
He nailed the drag and the gps system was a great tool to check his performance. We went for a 1/2 hour fast walk searching a empty field. On the way I dropped 3 bumpers and marked them on the GPS.
Franky nailed the and I did not not even have to check the GPS.

I load Franky up and go to pull the gps off my belt its gone!

I take a walk back along the same route and come up dry.

After a hour to cool off I unload Franky and have him smell my hand and give him the find command. Off we go and he is searching hard and swing wide

I/2 way through I rest him Its pushing 85 and too hot to run a DD.
I let him smell my hand again off we go . About 50 yards from the truck he
gets birdy so to speak, he did a little digging and then marks the spot . I walk over. There's the GPSS. I did the best acting I could and gave a stern fetch it up command. He carefully picked it up and delivered to hand.

This is my second dd. They are as good as any lab I have owned as duck dogs, The are bird finding machine for upland birds, but they don't do as well as English pointers in the heat.

Franky's mom was the highest scoring dog to test in Germany from the us.
She missed tying for first by one point.

He was hunting quail at 6 months and blood tracked my 10 point at 7 months. I did not duck hunt him last year, because I wanted his field search squared away first. I hope I can get him on some teal before we leave 10-1

We use the garmin tracker on our hog dogs and they are the cats meow!! It will even tell you when the dog is barking if it is to far outta earshot! Deffinatly worth the money if you run dogs and spend money on them. It will pay for itself cause you'll never lose another dog.

My draht found my wallet on a dove hunt last year. I lost it and we came back looking for it and I guess he just saw I was looking for something. Next thing you know hes running up with it in his mouth. I train my dog in 85+ degree heat daily. But there is water close and everytime I give him a chance he is in it. We do alot of water work too when its hot.

Ive got a GSP and he was very easy to train, super birdy, and can pick up smells like no other in a field blindly. So tell me is a DD the same as a german wirehaired pointer, just another name i suppose?
