Post hoping he will turn it on
2 months into training and a long way to go. I know they can't learn overnight but man I get impatient! Obedience isn't the best, he fails to pay attention to me or listen to commands. Between this dog aND my son playing tball gonna drive me to drinking heavy heavy. Gonna talk with the trainer this week, last week started force fetch but still when I get him on the weekends his obedience is just shit. What you guys think

I wouldn't start force fetch until obedience is 100%, but that's just me.

Agreed everything bases off the previous step. The more slack in step before opens larger gaps in step working on.

I think he will work for the trainer but not for me, I need to put the choke chain on him and work him. Iv been working 6 days a week lately so I haven't had the time for him just playing with him on my Sunday

That's tough for a dog. It's not his fault. Training takes a lot of time.

Good luck, I hope you find time and I hope your dog finds his groove.

Trainer is training him. 500 bucks per month. He stays with him mon-Fri and I pick him up for the weekend out|

If ur trainer is moving to FF without proper OB Id suggest changing trainers. Now if he is working for trainer and not u, sounds like u need to establish who is boss between u and dog but in right way

Well its his policy the dog comes home every weekend. I just need to work him I think the right way. And it could just be the dog some take longer than others

Ask your trainer what you should be doing on the weekend.

"Well, it's his policy the dog comes home every weekend."

I am curious and tempted to guess, but what's the logic in that?

Well, I'd have serious reservations about that situation. Training dogs
effectively requires being consistent and predictable. They thrive in
that type of setup. Bringing your dog home every weekend changes
things....often. If you have no idea, it might be something to clarify.
