Someone dumped him. You don't just "lose" a dog in the bayou

It's simple. get a mud motor. shoot ducks in the face.

That's why I keep mine on a 2 ft. leash tied to my grab bar on long runs at night.

Pretty shitty place to dump one if that is what they did. He looks pretty healthy so I don't think he has been out there to long

I swear I remember someone sharing a post on Facebook that they or someone they knew had lost their chocolate lab on a hunt.. Was a week ago or so. Said the dog chased a duck into the marsh and was never seen again.. I'm trying like hell to find the post but
I can't remember if it was on mudmotor central or just someone I am friends with on Facebook.

I doubt anyone dumped him. My buddy lost his dog hunting a marsh. The dog went into some grass after a bird and got turned around. He actually swam/waded about a mile away to another boat with the duck still in his mouth.

Take him to a vet to see if he's chipped. Most people that invest money in a dog would have done that. Then you can at least see if he actually belongs to someone

That'd be great if he had a chip. I'd like to think that no one dumped him, but unfortunately there are so pretty shitty people out there. But who knows. Hopefully he will have a chip and be able to be returned to his owners.

A buddy of mine got to his hunting spot early one morning only to realize is dog was no longer in the boat. He backtracked and found his dog swimming down a shallow boat trail. Got lucky it was not gator bait here in south florida. Obedience needs to be drilled into a dog early in training to help avoid potential for disaster. This year dogs have stayed home. It has been a race to get downed ducks from the gators this season. Now the water is fluctuating between 55 and 65 degrees so I should be a bit safer. I had one hunt where 5 of the 2 man limit of ducks was consumed by more than one gator (saw them swim up and take them).

Okeechobee ain't a great place for a dog unless it is super shallow. We had a 10' gator slide up 3' from our boat with out us knowing he was there, only saw him after we motored out to start picking up decoys. It definitely was not afraid! If a dog had jumped off the boat I cannot imagine the gator not grabbing it.

I never heard what became of the dog. I just saw it on Facebook and with all the folks on here from La. someone might know where he belonged. I hope he made it somewhere safe and sound
