I'm a disabled vet. I'm in need of a Good companion. How much should it cost to get a 2-3yo lab that hunts? A good retriever. I'm in MS where is a good place to look?
THanks

Duck hill Kennels is owned by Robert Milner, a retired Air Force Major, Kernel, General ? He is a good man amd has a great reputation and great dogs. The dogs are English labs and are tremendous duck dogs. They are expensive but being a vet I'm confident he will help you out if he has an older dog that may meet your needs. The kennel is located in Memphis. The puppy I purchased from him is the best I've ever owned and I've hunted with labs for 50+ years. Good Luck, I wish I could be of more help. Every hunter needs a good dog.

Kind of depends what level of training you want the dog trained to. A dog that's steady and will retrieve doubles will probably be in the 2k range, a dog that will handle up to 5-6k depending on the breeding. Lots of good started dogs for sale on the retriever training forum, check there to see if anything catches your eye. Other options are to check with your local hrc or akc retriever club and see if anyone there knows something available, they likely will.

Thanks for the suggestions . I found a full-blooded golden retriever. She is super smart and really energetic. Got to start training.

Glad you found one. I had a couple leads but they were pretty high. Enjoy it, there's nothin like a good dog.

Duck hill rely's on uneducated buyers. For the same price you can do much better imo.
