Post Swimming
Need some help, when my year old lab swims with a bumper in his mouth, he accidentally swallows water, and it bloats him. Sometimes he throws it up, and sometimes he poops afterwards. Has anybody ever had this? Thanks for any input.

Post Re: Swimming
Muck has understated this from what he explained to me. His dog gorges himself on water during the retrieve when he swims back with a bumper. When i say gorged i am talking severely bloated. Looks like the little fella is pregnant.

Muck asked me if I had ever seen a dog take on water like this during a retrieve. I have seen many dogs take on a little water then they will just gag to purge it. But this little dog must take on a half gallon on each water retrieve. I have no idea how to cure it so I recommended he ask the pros on mmt.

I bet that's my problem. I've taken on too much water.

Get I float vest and see if that helps. Maybe getting more of his body out of the water will help and he my self correct if he figures out he don't have to drink so much water.

Try throwing real birds. Mine did this (not apparently as bad as your dog) with bumpers but could get a seal around a real bird in his mouth. May also try a dokken duck or goose.

Use the larger bumpers
