Did anyone see the brand new Yamaha tiller handle break off on the guy going towards 1? I heard it was crazy

Missed that one, anyone get hurt?

I saw him getting towed back and was surprised to see a new Yamaha being towed.

On a different note, this was my first year so I don't know what it's been like in the past but it kinda felt a little bit like we were being hunted by the police. They were hiding out and binocular-ing everyone. Then I saw some people being handcuffed and boated out, which seems like a horrible idea to be handcuffed in a boat... I get that some people need policing, and they are there to protect everyone ultimately but it was just a little instence on the law enforcement side. Otherwise it was a great time and I intend on doing it again.

No major casualties but had to tie my buddy's rig in all the way from Risers back to the cabin. It sucked a fat one. Oil filter cracked and was spewing oil.

I had a good time. Our group won a few prizes. The only problem I had is the motor went into limp mode and its still under warranty.

Made even longer considering you Stone-Cold Steve Austin'ed that beer we found floating down the river. Rusty can and old style Busch Lite label.

Everyone being boated out in handcuffs had life jackets on. The law enforcement presence is so large because the event is so large. 500+ boats makes the odds of something happening much greater.

On a side note, most of the BUIs come from people leaving the sandbar. That group usually is just interested in a party rather than contributing to the run itself.

Yea most of the enforcement did seem to be on the river. Regardless, it was a really good time and I definently want to do it again.

SCMudder, I believe I passed you towing a couple of times. I was the designated driver in my 24' ark toting 13 passengers.

I saw LEO's on the water until well after dark when we were going back to our camp. I got one solid "safety check" after the run on the river when 2 GW's passed us in a bay boat and immediately did a 180 when they saw my bikini clad passengers. I somewhat dodged a 2nd check since we told the LEO's we were just checked 20 minutes before and then had 2 LEO's in a jon boat pull up just to "check out the boat" within 200 yards of our 2nd check. Personally I have absolutely zero tolerance for LEO's and their "safety checks" but I take deep breaths, remain calm, wasn't drinking and I carry on. I call 'em the "Tiddy Patrol" as I was toting some good looking girls and I know that was the reason they checked us.

My crew came from FL, GA, SC and AL and they had a large time, everyone stayed safe and they're all ready to come back again next year!

It is hard to miss Paul and the crew boat. I enjoyed sharing space with y'all at the crawdad fest! I forget the guy's name from AL but he was cool. Bring him back again.

Nanny told me to put the stickers on the side of my boat...never got stopped or checked or even a second glance...hell I was pouring a handle of Capt. one time...it's a good time and for a great cause most of the drunkards just show up to party and don't contribute.

Post subject:  Re: June the 4th

If the run continues to progress like it has it will get shut down. There are too any drunks that just want to get shit faced and ride around in their boat. Most of this people are just the ones riding through the swamp and do not contribute... or, the 601 crowd. DNR knows this and they are working with the organizers to see who is participating and who is causing the trouble. Not that those two are not mutually exclusive but for the most part the participants are not the ones causing the problems. The stickers were a way for them to see who was and mostly was not participating.

What is amazing to me is, everyone that bitches about the DNR at the run then goes and does not participate. If you want to go to the sandbar and get hammer drunk, why not go sun... or the following sat?

Speaking of sun... how was the river? I figured it would have been a long way to ride with the min Kota

Talking about day after? Not many boats showed. South wind kept a lot of water in the river. Bad storm popped up right near peak low tide. There was some decent mud but nothing like it should have been.

I've never made it to the Cooper to run the mud. I'll have to try out my little mud boat rig down there one day.
