The 2016 Caddo Lake Fun Run will be held Friday June 3rd through Sunday June 5th, with the main event being held on Saturday the 4th. The time is upon us again! This is a really great event and we've had a great turnout for the last several years. This is a family friendly event that will kick off on Friday night, carry on all day on Saturday, and then come to a close on Sunday morning. It's always good food, good people, and good times. This is a fundraiser event. All proceeds will go directly to the GCLA (Greater Caddo Lake Association), and proceeds will be used to fight several invasive species, most important right now, the infestation of Giant Salvinia. If anyone would like to put funds directly to the cause, or help fund the lunch and dinner so more of the income from that will make it back to the lake, please shoot me a pm. Last year we raised nearly $6500 for the cause. Hopefully we have another successful year. Uncle J has stepped up and offered to sponsor dinner for everyone on Friday night. Jason has offerred to feed everyone who makes it in early enough on Friday to eat with us. Looks like we're having a fish fry! Thanks Jason! Saturday, we will have our traditional morning ride, come back for lunch served again by Josh Campbell, head over to onion island for the afternoon, and then back to camp for another meal by Josh. After dinner wraps up we'll have a prize give-away, and then hopefully everyone will be able to hang out meet those you were unable to meet while out on the water all day. I will try to get on top of the shirts here in the next few weeks and get you guys some more info on that. We will definitely have shirts for sale again this year, lunch and dinner on Saturday will be pay per plate. Tickets for the give-away will be available Friday and Saturday up to the run, and I should be able to work out a few pre-sales for those who will not be able to attend. I believe Friday night will be handled with donations, but that may change sometime between now and then. viewtopic.php?f=92&t=66307 Chris "bigrich" Rich, and Daniel "russ" Russell will be handling the sponsors and give-a-ways this year, so anyone wishing to donate anything towards the cause, please contact either via PM. We have a company in Connecticut that donates the time to draw up the artwork, the design itself, and then completely covers the costs of the shirts and shipping costs to get them to me. Other than the paypal fees and the few bucks we spend on shipping after the ride, every penny from the shirt sales goes to GCLA. This is definitely a big reason we've been able to donate so much the last two years. It's a very large portion of our total donation. So even for the folks who aren't able to attend but would like to support our cause, ordering a t-shirt is a great way to do so as just about every dime you spend will hit it's mark. The drawing tickets are the same way. There is no costs taken out of these funds. Everything we are able to give away is donated by our wonderful site sponsors, and site members. All proceeds go to the cause. Food costs are high, but our cook helps us out a ton there by shopping for deals and trying to make our meals as economical as possible. We do usually come out slightly ahead here, but the huge portions of our donation comes from our sponsors and our t-shirt sales. Thanks again to all who participate in any way! |

I told my sgm (who's also my boss on the work side) that I need to split that drill for caddo, when he asked why and I explained, he started to balk. Then I reminded him last year I was working and had to cut the trip very short. Voila, now I get at least part of Friday off, too lol. My at will be in april, so got lucky, there. |

BS I see E4s get out of drill weekends lol. As an E7 you should be able reschedule your drill if you have conflicting schedules on a weekend? I'm in the Reserves (IMA) one of The best secrets in the Army. Allotted 48 4hr drill periods and 2 week AT. Drill on my own and when I want! |

Yeah Im an AGR readiness NCO, and when It comes to drill time I am a Platoon Sergeant. The onyl time I have ever gotten out of even a partial drill was one day for my grandmother's funeral. But yes, little bastards are always getting out of drill, WITH the option to make it up. My guys don't get that option unless is was a last minute emergency, because we all volunteered for this and I hand out yearly drill schedules so they know the dates! But to each their own. 9.5 year or less and I will have my 20 active. |

This sounds like a great run coming up! I've always wanted to come down for one of them and just did a map quest on the drive time. A shade over 14 hours. I'm going to do my best to make it happen next year and use it as a vacation! Have fun, be safe and enjoy some cold beer and vittles for me........Until next year!
