Anything you guys would like to do that we have not been doing the last few years? I started a thread about the food already, but here's a spot to offer up any suggestions for other portions of the ride. Obviously we can't control the weather, and this is a fundraiser so things that are going to be expensive to do are not really going to be options. Not saying we'll actually change anything, but I'm open to suggestions.

Poker run, give a few more stops to give my arm a break

And give us an excuse to hit some of the ponds like trout pond,eagles nest etc

I knew that would come up. We did stops the first few years, it's too hard to get everyone going again. We found the straight through run in the am makes things run a whole lot smoother.

We could hit trout pond, eagles nest...we'd have way too many people stuck in there.

For a poker run to work on that lake, You would have mark the trail really well, so people wouldn't have to follow other boats.

Then have a boat posted up at each spot for card punches, that just stay there.

Have to stop at 5 of 6 spots etc. People could stop at each stop as they please and go when they want... Have stops open from 10-12 or something.

Sounds like a lot more work

Some of yall need to come down to south ga and see how we do our poker run. Really smooth for the most part.

Getting lost and stuck ,, sounds like a good time

Biggest problem with the poker run would be just having everyone going every which way. We try really hard to stay away from other boat traffic. If we just release everyone, it will be a giant mess. If we try to run it in a follow the leader type setup, it's too hard to get everyone going again. We did four or five stops the first couple years and people got even more separated than they did this year. I don't think a poker run is ever going to happen here, so we can move on from that idea.

We can possibly extend the morning run. We can possibly run smaller groups. We can possibly do more trail riding in the afternoon. Stuff like that.. Most people seem to enjoy the long run in the am and onion island in the afternoon, but we could make a long trip to the spill way, check out the old bridge in Mooringsport, stuff like that.

You can ask my little brother, every concert I go to, I end up talking to whoever performed about coming to the caddo fun run. Haven't closed one yet though.

The only thing I plan on changing next year is I plan on taking the whole week off work, not just Thurs/Fri.


As far as the Saturday run(s) the morning trip could be a bit longer. Seemed like the fun ended a little too quickly for me. And as far as going to Mooringsport and out that way, might make a loop by all that stuff and add it to the afternoon ride on the way to onion island. If you did that, you could keep the morning route about the same length, and maybe just change the loop a little from year to year.

What does that thing in your signature mean?

We were going to try to turn up river and come back down the S road this year, but there was a tree blocking the way. And not a log, like a big ass oak tree. We'd run all the way back down to the c road and hit blind slough. That will extend it quite a bit. Hopefully we can work that in next year.

More narrow, scenic trails.....and I agree...more time there than just a Friday/Saturday for me!

If Jay could run his aircraft carrier through there, they shouldn't have had any issues in that little longtail rig.

I don't think theyre as used to the bump and grind in the woods like we normally run. that boat was a true flats boat and not meant at all for what we were doing, but man, did it look good in the water. I'm anxious to see the one theyre doing just like it with a big Hp inboard jet. should be a handful!

Either way, they have some innovative stuff happening in Minnesota. I felt lucky to be staying the weekend with Paul and Arlon.

Speaking of ideas....breakfast tacos or sandwiches would be a pretty good money maker on Saturday morning....if you can find somebody to cook it. Just a thought....get to sleep a little later! LOL

I'll cook breakfast for dinner next year....but, I would rather sleep in of I got to hang with all the night owls!
