Where do we go and make a difference? i was just turned away at 431 and 621. Best thing I figure is to follow the crest south. All the ones that change their mind at the last minute will need rescuing

Re: LA Flooding - Rescue/Evac Help If Needed
Here's what I've got for those still trying to help. One of you call wildlife and fisheries, then post here where they'd like yall to be. Also, I've got a friend in the walker/Denham springs area that spent today rescuing. If anyone would like his number to try and organize, shoot me a pm. Not sure if he's going to be tomorrow, as his house got hammered, and I know he's going to have to get it stripped out pretty quick, so he may be doing that tomorrow.

Re: LA Flooding - Rescue/Evac Help If Needed
I did go out to St. Amant, today at the request of my neighbor. They evac'ed his parents this morning at the last minute because his dad didn't want to leave. They left in a rush and left a few things that they needed....and their pet cockatiel bird. LOL quick trip and there were plenty of boats.
I had to report to work this morning...bit, we sent everybody home at 10:00...of course, I was there til nearly 1:00. Got to be there tomorrow morning. We're going to assess the manpower availability and needs on a day to day basis. If I get out early again, I'll hit you up. I'm pretty much over APSO and Ascension's OEP. Almost called down to Iberville Parish tonight to see if they needed any help tonight.
Prayers to all out there. Bad stuff going on right now.

Re: LA Flooding - Rescue/Evac Help If Needed
All,
Was out again today in Ascenscion and the water is still rising but slowly. We did not personally find any people to rescue per say in 3 different spots we went to in StAmant, or Gálvez. We did help someone find a pet that was left behind. Also shuttled people across flooded areas either to be picked up or back in to areas that were not flooded but only accessible by boat for supplies like water, groceries, and items left behind.
I live here and am familiar with the flooded areas. From what I can tell by looking at the predictions of flood stages for the Amite at Port Vincent the water should start to recede some time over night or tomorrow.
Thanks to all that are helping!

Well Blu, now I know what you look like! Lol, that pic of you and the people in your boat made the news, no clue what channel. I saw it when I went to my sisters to tell my wife our house was gone. Thanks for helping everyone, it's truly awesome the help and support we had this week! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk

LA Flooding - Rescue/Evac Help If Needed
I saw a short clip on HLN today...actually two versions. It was pretty cool. Had people texting me at 6:00 this morning saying the story came across their news feeds. LOL
Really, there were so many other boats out there that deserve so much more credit than me. I know there were people coming from far away in large groups to help...and spending way more to,e on the water than what I did. All are true heroes in my book!
