I have seen the you tube videos of guy stuck on the mud flats with their mud buddys... The gator tail boats don't seem to ever get stuck.... Is this true??

Also, what makes the gator different? The motor or the boat design? Thanks

Just buy a gator tail and be done with it. You won't regret it. Best motor out there.

Oh Im thinkin there aint no other to go with besides the gatortail. But if its only the motor that I really have to have, than why couldn't I just put it on a different boat??

So what causes a flat bottom to get stuck? Is it the type of mud? Or the weight of the boat?

Look at it like this... If you take a car, and run it into water, it's going to sink. If you take a boat, and run it on land, it is going to get stuck. Though, a monster truck may go a little further in the water. Just like a person that knows how to drive may go a bit further on land.

When friction is greater than thrust --- and you don't move for an hour --- you are stuck....

The type of bottom makes a big difference --- not sure what kind of bottoms ya'll have
but these motors work best in the "peanut butter" type of bottomless mud which abounds
in the southern marshes --- where when you step out into it you go smooth up to your waist
in about 2 seconds --- but none of them can push off a sandbar or oyster bed --- hence the
need to equip yourself with a winch.....

I can't wait to do it. Sounds to me like the best way to find out if the SD motors can handle the mud around here is to just get out and do it. Ha, gotta make sure its an incoming tide though. I think it would be bad ass though if I could just stop, chill, and then go just like those gatortails in them videos!

The TORQUE has nothing to do with whether it's a gt or not. That motor has some serious work done to it. All the manufacture's use the same engine's. How old are you?

GT is harder to drive thou than a PD. it also has a floating handle as compared to a PD with a non-floating handle. your arm def gets a good workout wit da GT..
