How does the degree of rake (slope) of the bow affect the boats performance?

Draft, load capacity, speed, and drivability?

Pointed bow attributes:

Pros:
better maneuverability in wooded areas
can better plow through hyacinths with heavy loads (sacks of crawfish, etc)
less weight
looks like a beautiful woman

Cons:
less deck area
less storage area
tends to plow into wakes dangerously
less bottom surface area in contact with water for planning
wetter ride

Square bow attributes:

Pros:
more deck area
more storage area
no issue with plowing into wakes
more bottom surface area in contact with water for planning
dryer ride in rough weather

Cons:
more difficult to maneuver in wooded areas
no option to plow through hyacinth with heavy loads
more weight
looks like chit

Pointed bow boats tend to have higher sides to compensate for reduced buoyancy with heavy loads compared to square bowed boats.

I've seen pointed bow skiffs that try to strike a balance between the two types by incorporating an extreme rake starting more forward and rising quickly to the stem. Its ugly but in might help with the plowing tendencies of pointed bows. These types of bows I've seen predominantly in the Stephensville, La area, and are not too frequently seen further north in the Atchafalya basin areas. Its just particular to the builders in the area. In the northern basin, We tend prefer more beautiful women...we will sacrifice function for form more readily.

Don't think he's lookin for skiff to bateau comparisons, but actual bow rake info. I'm no boat builder or engineer, but the best I've figured is that the longer rake will help ya to get on step faster & get better top speed, but limits loaded performance. Ya gotta find your happy medium as to which ya want more, haulin ass, or haulin asses. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong here.
