Post Wiring Headlights(need some help)
I bought some LED Optronics Docking lights and needing some help with the setup? I am good with directions and have some DC current knowledge. I am trying to use a rocker switch with a ground, main power and positive plug which i never used before. The directions say to hookup the main power in the middle plug, ground(black) to the top plug, and red positive 5 amp fuse to the bottom plug and than to the battery. It is not telling me to hook up the black wire to the battery . Is that correct? Also it comes with 20g wire is that fine? It will not be enough wire for my boat, can i use 14g wire with the 20g without harming it? Thanks for the help in advance.

Where is it telling you to get ground from? Your boat doesn't have a chassis ground (or shouldn't at least) so you will have to run both pos and neg straight to the battery.

The ground definately needs to go from the lights to the battery, if your rocker switch is a lighted switch, it will also need to be grounded to the battery for the backlight to work. Run a hot wire from the + post to the switch, and another hot wire from the switch to the lights. Easy install, but if ya run into trouble, hit me up, I'm in Port Arthur & can give ya a hand if needed. Better yet, bring it all with ya & come to the ride on Saturday in Port Neches. ;)

Make sure you put an inline fuse on the positive wire if you run the wire straight to the battery and put the fuse as close to the battery as possible.
