 go devil duck skiff
im interested in a getting a godevil duck skiff. i want the fastest and lightest boat possible. im pushing around a 14 foot riveted with a 23 gdlt. im scared to break off all the rivets and break my hull to hell. i want to upgrade to the godevil duck skiff. they come in 1536, 1636, 1836. my question would be if i opt for a 1636 (cuz its cheaper) would it be able to accept my engine. when i read godevils max engine hp. they reccomend only 20. One thing i noticed is that their 20 hp honda weighs more than my vanguard 23. so idk if its a weight thing or if the xtra 3 hp is gunna break the transom lol. can some one please explain. and if you have any reccomendations as to a better boat please let me know. im all about learning.

 Re: go devil duck skiff
It would hold it but if your already spending nearly 4 grand on a boat then spend the extra 200$ and get the 18. There is a saying "Penny wise and dollar poor". Dont skimp on this. Buy the longer boat and thank me later.

 Re: go devil duck skiff
The 18 will carry a load better and I guarantee it will manuever just as well and hide just as easily.

 Re: go devil duck skiff
If you want the fastest and lightest you might wanna check out a Kliebert boat. I'm running a 17x38 with a 23lt and getting low 20's top out at 24 once. It is pretty much the same design as go-devil Warren and Mike both started building boats at the same time and Mike still builds boats for Warren on the side from time to time. What makes Mikes boat lighter is that he doesnt put floatation in his. I'd put a Kliebert boat against a go-devil any day. I run them both and my personal boat with a 23 beats the go-devil boat i work in which has a 27 on it. As for motors go with a vanguard, hondas are more expensive and heavier. Plus a vanguard comes with a pull rope a honda its an additional option. Hondas parts are more expensive also.

 Re: go devil duck skiff
he charged me 2200 without a floor I didn't want one. Thats just the hull, no lights no nothing. As far as time it just depends on how much work he has. The duck boats only take him about a day to build because he has built boat so many. Hes building an airboat hull for my buddy right now and he been working on it off and on for about three weeks.

 Re: go devil duck skiff
ahhh that aint that bad, plus they look better than the go-devil boats in my opinon.. did go-devil use his design or did they use there own design on there boats? cause they surely do look alike.

 Re: go devil duck skiff
Its pretty much the same boat they designed together, actually they designed the gator trax boat too and then sold the design to them. Mike and Warren are related, Warren decide to go commercial with his hull Mike didn't thats how he gets away with not putting floatation in his boats. Mikes boat now days has been modified to have a longer rake on the front which helps in going over stuff. It doesnt make the nose of the boat go up so high when jumping dams and logs.

 Re: go devil duck skiff
The only hull GD has called a "skiff" is the 36 wide.... http://www.godevil.com/16x30-36_Duck_Skiff.htmlThe 38 and 44 wide hulls were originally built for the longtails - but many owners have strapped the SD on them - so - the newest 44s are slightly hybridized and modified to better accept both the LT and SD..... Drove the newest GD 18x44 the other day with a 35 GDSD --- that may be my next rig ! ! ! Cornered like a dang Corvette ! ! !
