 Water over transom!
I have an 18ft Guide Edition short transom that I just put a 35hp MB on.
Example of a scenario that happened: Going down a canal full speed, acidently trip the clutch to neutral, forward motion stops, look back, wall of water over the back transom. Not cool, well was cool, in below freezing temps.
Any suggestions???
Could the transom be built up on this model? Or, just asking, would it be possible to turn to hunt deck?

Let off gas a little slower next time other than that your asking for some advice from a builder and I do not know structural aluminum like they do...

 Re: Water over transom!
Get a GDSD. Then you won't have to worry about neutral.

 Re: Water over transom!
Rotate the switch protector around to the inside. I always tripped mine with my jacket, so I spun the bracket around to where it wouldn't. Workin good so far.

 Re: Water over transom!
Hence why we recommend 20" transoms most of the time!!!!!! You can have someone fab up a couple of 4-5" high splash guards for each side of the motor out of 1/8 or 3/16" aluminum and screw them on as close to the motor as possible, we have done this for a number of guys with 16" transom GD and Gator Trax hull up here, it will stop 80-90" of the wake coming in the boat.

 Re: Water over transom!
Never have understood putting a 200 lb motor and 200+ lb person on a 16" transom....how much is above the water when sitting still, 10" ?? Not me.
