Post Adding on a huntdeck!PICS ADDED
well, ive been so concerned about the length of my boat, i decided too get a huntdeck added on. I dropped it off yesterday to Jason. He said hes never seen it done before so my boat will be the guinea pig. I will post before and after pics of the project after completion. It will add 15" to the length of my boat and flotation.

If the bottom isn't straight you will have issues. It will be like one huge hook in the hull.

yeah thats what we gonna find out. it does have some dents, its a crimped bottom. i would rather lose some speed from hooks than have it porpoise for sure. if its a turd ima sell it later in the year and build a new one.

Marcus is correct.
Even if the bottom is straight if you just add it on, you could end up wit 2 hooks down the road. 1 at the new and old transom. I would think the best way to do it would be to completly cut out the old transom and splice the boat to make it longer with only one transom at the end of the huntdeck.
But then again I'm not a boat builder and it is not my boat. Howevere he does it I hope it works out for you.

Post Re: Adding on a huntdeck!
hes gonna build the deck to match the lines of the hull and sides. the only thing that were concerned about is that the bottom of the deck is gonna be lined up with the flat section of my hull, the crimps on the hull will protrude farther down. this is what im concerned may cause the porposing

I would not waste my time doing it at all. Sell the hull while it is in sellable condition and just get a hull made. Yes it costs more money, BUT you have a better rig from the start and you dont lose time and money.

[quote="UNCLE-J"]LET ME NOTE ::: I, Jason Romero, am against this project. Due to Autogateman really wanting it, he is only paying for material. This boat is a factory crimped hull.. I would say there is about a 5% chance of this coming to 100% of my satifaction.

We will see in the next week or so..

Jason

J why are you against it? Because it has the crimped bottom?

All BS aside, His transom is now solid like a rock !!! We rebuilt it and added a hunt deck via all 3/16th all the way around. His bracket channel is 2x4 1/4" thick. If anyone runs into the back of his boat, you will have bow damage . We also made the hunt deck a sealed flotation pod with it's own plug.

Yeah ever since I got the frame I been pricin engines, brandnewengines.com had an ebay auction for the 35 vanguard no reserve. the starting bid was 1699, and no one ever bid on it. they re ran the auction for prolly two months, then once I came up with the money, they stopped runnin the auction, naturally. Soooo I had to start shoppin again and i found one locally for $2100. Gd wants $2600 for it. Also, the ebay motor wasnt the marine, this one is.

It appears that it originally was a tall transom, but it was cut down like that when I got it. the transom on the huntdeck is the same height.

Don't forget to lengthen your trailer bunks before adding the motor. You don't want to hook that new hunt deck.
